I work on design systems in Figma and have done for a few companies.

It would be really useful to have the split-screen mode that you see in coding editors like VS Code. If you are trying to align components it is really useful to have them open next to you. I’ve sometimes worked around this having desktop and web views open side by side on the screen.

My thought would be that the left and right panels update to match the window you are focused on.

Yes, nice idea. Current workaround: in desktop app you can open multiple windows with the same file (and hide multiplayer cursors) to have simultaneous access to several pages, or locations within it. But this is only feasible if you have big monitor or two.

Hey Figma team

I was wondering if you could consider adding a plugin where you can split the screen.

There is an option in Indesign where it split screen and this helped me through the years to align with several projects or quicker amendments. I can imagine for Figma, this new feature would align with the components among several products, we are working on and as well with our Design system.

It would be great if this could be considered in the future and I would be delighted to help out somehow.

Can we still adjust the panels when using split screen? I haven’t had success in doing so but it will still be helpful to make those small adjustments.

I see this has been implemented—but I cannot figure out either how i invoked it, nor how to turn it off. It’s pretty frustrating. Love seeing features added that the community requested, but more user research or effort made to make it easier to discover & disable (nope, not “Engagement” demo pop-ups when features are deployed), thx!
