Save Draft of Comments Functionality

👉🏽 Did you allready experience the frustration of typing out a comment, then needing to check the name of a frame or another detail outside the comment section, only to lose their entire comment? 😭

Ideas 💡

  1. When a user begins typing a comment, the system should automatically save a draft of the comment at regular intervals (e.g., every 10 seconds).
  2. If the user navigates away from the comment section or the page, the draft should be preserved and restored when they return to the comment section.
  3. Provide a clear indication to the user that their comment is being saved as a draft (e.g., a small “Saving…” indicator).
  4. Include an option for the user to manually save a draft of their comment.
  5. Ensure that the draft is retained even if the user logs out and logs back in, or if they access the project from a different device.

Thhis functionality will significantly improve user experience by preventing the loss of comments when users need to navigate away from the comment section for any reason.

If I jump between a file or other layers while writing a comment, I lose the entire comment and have to rewrite the whole thing. Sometimes I forget to copy the comment before jumping to a different section only to realize I have to type the same thing all up again.

Something I’ve wanted included for some time now. Definitely a great quality of life feature.

Me too 😇 Especially when you reply to a client with a detailed comment and end up losing all the message/challenge you were so proud of 🫠

I’ve lost my comment multiple times because I expected this to be a standard feature when a comment system is integrated.

I don’t mean to be rude, but a local storage solution for this shouldn’t take more than a week to develop.

@Branimir Viljevac - Same here! 😊 I think your solution makes a lot of sense—great thinking! 🚀

Love this idea @Nels! I end up using Notes to paste my draft while I find what I’m looking for, but it’s soooo tedious.

@Dawn_Pelo Notes work indeed, but it’s definitely not the best experience. Would love a more seamless way to handle this! 👀
