Navigate to child components

Camila_Amado

Just like we can navigate to the ‘main component’, I would like a functionality that takes me to all the children of a main component. Or does something similar already exist and I’m missing it?

Are you talking about Cmd/Ctrl + click? This will get you directly to the clicked layer within a frame. Or you can Cmd + drag I believe to select all nested components/layers. Is this what you mean?

We have the option to Go to the main component from one of its children. I’d like to be able to do the reverse. Be in the main component and be able to navigate through all its children.

Ah, I see what you mean. I don’t understand how this would work, as there can be two, twenty, or two hundred child components, whereas there’s only one main component of many instances.

How would Figma know which child component you wanted to navigate to? Isn’t this why you’d just keep your layers organised and use them to find the child component.

Yes, I understand your point and it is very true. Having all my layers organized and properly named definitely helps. However, I think it could be a feature that can add value.

+1 this would be incredibly useful when maintaining design systems! When publishing a change to a widely used component adopted by my whole team, I’d love to view a list of all instances across files that will be affected. That way, our DS team can spot check and proactively accept changes to ensure the transition is smooth, rather than non-DS designers accepting the changes in individual files over time.
