Hello!

There was a feature in Figma, that when you cycled between font families with the arrow keys, the text changed on the page to that font even before confirming the change.

Now with the new font window, you need to confirm your selection to preview the text in your page. If you don’t like it, you need to again open up the fonts window, and go through the process.

Photoshop behavior is much nicer, where you see the fonts in the window, how they are, plus there’s a preview on the page.

I believe this feature was working fine before the updates.

Have a nice day!

Norbert

Just came back from a year of parental leave. Can’t believe all the cool new features that has been introduced. But it also took me 45 seconds of being back in Figma to realize this feature was now missing, breaking my workflow completely. This might seem like such an unnecessary feature, but if testing fonts is part of your UI or brand work, this feature is critical. Until it’s fixed, I need to move somewhere else for these workflows.

Just hotfix this asap. Whoever made this decision needs to be reviewed asap. Figma used to be kings of ui/ux. 3 months in for this and its still not fixed.

I must chime in here. Why was this vital feature removed? Was the demand for font previewing more important than speed and workflow? This strange decision impacts people’s livelihoods.

👋 Hey folks, I’m the product manager that worked on the recent font picker update — I wanted to share that we’ve brought back the ability to preview through fonts by using the up/down arrow keys. We knew this was going to be a tough cut and the discussion/requests here validates how much this was part of your workflow. Hope that bringing this back alongside the new picker panel makes for an even better experience than before.

It behaves similar to how it did before, but please let us know if anything looks off or if you have any feedback! Appreciate everyone’s patience here, and a big thank you to @Josh and @dvaliao for their work everyday in connecting our teams with the community!

Brilliant, thanks for changing it back.

I’d actually started to go to Illustrator to do what Figma used to do, but I’m glad I can now cut that out of the workflow.

A preview when hovering the mouse over a font in the list would be even better, because it’s easier to skip irrelevant fonts with the mouse than with arrows. I suggest to consider it as an addition to the arrow control.

Hey All,

Today we launched Font picker on-canvas previews!

Now you can preview what a font family will look like on the canvas without having to actually select it from the font picker. Font size and style previews will also be available. Plus, we’ve restored the ability to navigate the font picker with up and down arrows. Learn more about browsing fonts in Figma.

Yes you are free to choose different fonts to suit your project. You can copy and use many other fonts here.
