I intuitively thought it’s possible, but looks like it doesn’t.
It would make a lot of sense to implement it I assume though, as many designers including me previously had the styles divided by folders or other way but used styles.

Integrate styles into variables
UPD: looks like now there’s way to connect styles with variables, but it’s still impossible to apply the style in a variable (only variable in a style)
A style is a collection of things, it is high in the hierarchy.
A variable is not a collection of things, it is at the base of the hierarchy.
There shouldn’t be a need to use a variable that contains a style within it, you would just use a style instead.
