I love the branch/merge feature however I am constantly updating in main when I am intending to update in the branch I opened. The update from main feature is nice, however it’s stressful to have to choose which-update from-which-branch I want when I didn’t want to make updates in main in the first place. I’ve even selected the wrong update and lost work a few times now. I would love if Figma could add something in the working area of the main file that was more obvious upon opening a branch. Something like a bar across the top of the screen that said “Main file: Branch xxxx currently open”.
You should make more clear that the name of the Team is the Name appearing on the Billing to avoid nick names
We’re trying to use the Jira widget to share the single source of truth about the readiness of component within Figma designs. Unfortunately, in the expanded form (which shows the status of the JIRA ticket - the most important information), the widget can’t be used as a link to JIRA issue in read-only mode. This seems quite a major use case, is there a way how to achieve it or are there any planned improvements. As a workaround we are attaching two widgets - in the expended form and in the form of the link but it’s not the ideal way how to work with that. 😉
It is massive work of link color alias in variables. There will cool if user can alt-drag copy of alias from one to anther. or copy / paste shortcut
This is about the new interactions pop-up menu that appears when you create an interaction noodle, or when you click an existing noodle. The pop-up menu appears near where you clicked, but it often obscures the components or noodle you’re connecting, so you can’t visually check that what you’ve done is right, or it means you have to move the menu out of the way to work on things it’s blocking. Or sometimes if you are clicking on a noodle or setting an interaction near the bottom of your display, the menu gets cut off below the viewport, and you have to move it. Then moving the pop-up menu is finicky too. I instinctively try to grab it by the top left or top middle, but there is a drop down menu’s touch target that I often accidentally click instead. I’m a fan of the pop-up menu because it means I don’t have to keep going to the right panel, but I’m hoping how it appears and how to move it could be improved.
When a layer in an auto layout is set to absolute position, it has a different icon. I’d like to have some similar visual communication in the layers panel when a layer is set to sticky scroll, fixed scroll, or has its contents scrolling. Right now I manually type in these states in parenthesis but having it built into the layering display settings would be beneficial: Edit: The layer order is adjusted when contents are Fixed vs Scrolling.
Hello, would like to share my common use case with strokes on Figma. In every design system I made I create doubled contrast borders for my elements like this example. Goal creating this on Figma is a lot frustrating because we can’t handle the stroke position for each stroke. This would be done easily by allowing to set the drawing position for each stroke, instead to set all strokes inside, center o outside. The Problems …with solution 1 The current stroke management in Figma is forcing us to create multiple layers just to add borders or change border positions. Is weird to replicate “outer-border” and “inner-border” layers in every component. Plus, for a design system consumer is hard to keep consistency since they have to copy/paste those layers in their design. …with solution 2 Another solution could be to add a single stroke to the layer, and a shadow effect to replicate the visual effect. This brings the problem that a layer can have ONLY ONE effect applied. So, if the current
There are already a bunch of useful widgets that can boost design-devs communication. For example I want to embed a video on the canvas that my devs can play. Or I exported variables and I want to list them in a nice code block for my devs to copy it. Even Jira widget is useless until devs can’t open a link through it. Allow widgets to be interactable for devs.
Hey, For masked nodes, it would be great if the node properties will already reflect the mask too. Just like ‘absoluteRenderBounds’ already represents drop shadows and strokes, it would be great if it also represents the masks. Today, this data is more of a ‘raw’ data, therefore, plugin developers need their our own algorithm that takes the mask into account when figuring the layer size properties.
Hey, It would be great to have a property that indicates if a layer is hidden, meaning that the layer is not reachable and the user can’t visually see it. Then, when traverse takes place (using the API find methods) it can also be used to only traverse layers that are visually visible. Today, plugin developers need to detect it with their own algorithm based on z-index and traversing the whole tree. This traverse also affects the performance of their plugin.
Please create a tab scrolling, I always have a lot of tabs open and I need each one for different projects, but when I have to work from a small laptop monitor I can’t access the tabs that are open beyond the resolution of my screen. Please help :((((
Hi Team 👋 We have several issues with our prototypes on Figma. For example, hovers on buttons that doesn’t works correctly, text gap inside component etc… We have to close the prototype preview and launch it again to solve this. It seems come from the preview cache. Do you think it could be improved? Thanks!
Trying out the variables beta, but the number variables are limited to 2 d.p. I have 3 d.p. rem values that I’m trying to enter. Might not make a huge difference, but wanted to share the case.
Hi there! Recently me and my team where wondering why we could not see the projects each of us had created without having to manually invite the others. We’re all part of the same team and we’re all editors in the files. We can always search for the projects but having them on the left panel under Teams is pretty useful. Would be great if, by default, all projects in the list were visible to team editors without having to manually send invitations. Thank you
Ability to create a range slider interaction where in prototype user can drag and set the slider to any possible value with variable
How is this ordered? is it sorted by created date? because if so, that sucks. If you wanna reorder then you gotta delete everything and re-create it in the proper order. lol. Please let us drag to rearrange or sort by some rational parameter such as alphabetical.
Currently I use Ctrl + \ in windows to show/ hide UI in Figma. It would be practical if it was possible to show/ hide just rules in a page || all pages.
Hi Guys! so I do some game activities for our Company and I’m using the Figjam Vote feature to keep track of which team has gained the most points by stamping their tables. Since I can’t see the live updates I can’t know who is in the lead and I have to end the vote but I can’t until they are done the game. So most of the time the screen is just blank. I also don’t have the option to resume voting so if I ended the Voting session and say I we add a couple of new ideas then we can’t resume and have the poll continue counting and we now need to create a separate vote session. It will be nice if the Vote settings are flexible if I want to turn ON or OFF the visibility on a session. We also do use it for work when we brainstorm ideas we want to monitor which idea has the most votes to move it up to a different section. Anyhow having Vote Settings is very useful for us when planning our activities.
My plugin needs to identify all libraries enabled for the current file. Currently, there is no Plugin API endpoint that provides this information. I The Figma REST API can be used to identify libraries of the styles used in the file. However, this method has a couple of limitations: It is not possible to identify enabled libraries if none of their styles are currently in use in the file. Even if the API client has identified enabled libraries using the Figma REST API, they will not be able to detect changes to their enabled state. In other words, if the state of a library is changed to “disabled” in Figma’s UI, the API client will not be notified of this change. A new Plugin API endpoint that lets clients know the metadata (file key, name, etc) of the libraries currently enabled for a given file would be very useful to expand Figma features to be more powerful. Thank you.
I feel it is missing a visual and digital notification, when we set a section DEV READY. The digital, could be an e-mail, to the participants. And the visual could be a green color on the “icon”, instead of blue, so we can identify it faster.
Hello, I’m creating an internal Figma Plugin and I noticed that your fetch function is custom one and that not all HTTP headers are exposed by it. In fact, only content-length and content-type seems to be available. My plugin would need to read additional information from the header since I’m using binary data (image) in the response and I don’t want to implement multipart form parsing just to add these small data (HTTP header would be very practical for it). Is there any solution? For now I’m using a workaround to pass that data in content-type but as you can imagine, that’s not ideal 🙂 Thank you for any help. Jiri
Hi. I used to use MacOS native keyboard shortcuts to create a shortcut for the function “Go to Main Component”. Native MacOS shortcuts use app upper context menus (where apple icon). You can go to Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → App Shortcuts and set any key for an any menu line. Now, there is no “Go to Main Component” in “Object → Main Components” and my shortcut isn’t working. It’s so painful to use the mouse every time to click a special icon. I use the keyboard shortcut “Go to Main Component” many times during the day. Also, there is a same story with “Clip Content”. There isn’t same menu line in Object menu and I can’t create a keyboard shortcut. It’s very frequent function. Please, fix it.
Hello. Recently I worked with plugin that can work only in “export” page. It was easy to add listener on page change, but rename page doesn’t trigger any event. Because of it user after rename should re-open plugin or change page and get back to export. Not really cool UX… I think it will be better to trigger currentpagechange.
Hey there! I’d love to be able to quickly copy & paste styles for arrows and shapes as I work in Figjam. In Figma, I’m able to hit option+cmd+c to copy all of the style attributes of one object and “paste” to apply them automatically to another object. This would save me a lot of time in that I wouldn’t have to manually repeat applying styles like dashed lines or colors as I work out flow charts. That’s all. Thanks!
I wonder if anyone at Figma has thought about putting an alert or notification into the Figma UI when files are opened/edited in teams. I’m new to Figma and I didn’t realize that there was a charge for using FigJam/Teams there was no notification of this until I got an email with a monthly charge of $5. Maybe the editor/account owner should get a notification with a yes or no question. Something the Figma Team should consider.
