Figma Slide feature request - Slide Animations

It would be nice to have the ability to add animations to the elements on the slide instead of only between slides. Of course you could duplicate slides and remove the parts you want to progressively reveal but that could quickly clutter the grid.

Thanks @Aaron_Milton! I retitled your topic a bit for clarity, and passed your request forward on my end 😃

Feel free to drop any other additional thoughts here if any come up.

The ability to animate and time individual component/elements (Text box, images, etc. ). Currently it is the same as animating between two frames. Thanks!

Right now you can only animate a full slide or all slides. I want to animate certain text to pop up on a click.

More controls around animation are needed. Otherwise Figma Slides is as useful as showing a PDF presentation. 😅 The current Smart Animate setting are linear and too short.

I second this! I am loving Figma slides so far but the lack of animations renders it basically unusable for me.

When using software like Google Slides and Powerpoint, I often have objects progressively appear as I walk through the slide. For example, if I have three columns with several points each I might have 6-7 animation frames. In Figma slides, this would require the creation and management of 7-8 separate slides, which leads to rapid bloat of the presentation.

Hi @Aaron_Milton, I thought this too. If you had the possibility of animating the elements within the slide, it would be great, you could migrate several projects to Figma Slides

Wow it blows my mind to be on here asking for individual element animations - like did Figma team not realise we’d want the basic functionality of powerpoint or Google Slides? Anyway so back to Google Slides for me 😕

Currently I use components with a delay to start invisible and then fade into a slide but I would love it if I could animate individual objects. Same thing for an object “sliding” into frame upon moving to the next slide.

Hayley_Harkema

If I want a video to play while I make changes to text or visuals near it, I can’t really do this without the ability to animate individual items.

Kinda regretting using slides for my presentation because of this.

How are you doing this with the Figma Slide Decks?

I essentially make an ‘animation’ in Figma design with one for each frame and turn it into a component set with ‘after delay’ set. Then I take an instance and put it in my slide

Yeah! This would be a great feature to have! I’d love to be able to animate elements individually on Figma, much like what you can do on Google Slides!

Yasss I really need this. Come on, I don’t want to switch back to PowerPoint.

I’m just a Focus Group of One, but I really don’t think folks are going to pay for something that can’t even do what Google Slides does for free.

Come on Figma bring it on, this is the most basic presentation feature ever. Will go back to Keynote.

Maarten Grootendorst

This feature would make it the complete package for me. In one file, I'm using 300+ slides to get the animations that I want. With this feature, that would easily reduce it to fewer than 100 slides.

To me, and I hope many other users, Figma Slides is a wonderful alternative if creating these "basic” animations would be implemented. As it currently stands, it's just too much work to get the functionality present in Google Slides/Keynote/Powerpoint.

@ksn Thank you for relaying the request. Could I ask what the current status is? It's been a couple of months and I think many are excited to hear what may or may not be in the pipeline.

Hey @Maarten Grootendorst! I know that this is being worked on by the slides team :D But I don’t have the specifics or any ETA at the moment in terms of release. I hope we can get some great updates over to everyone soon.

+1 to animating individual elements or frames within a slide.
