Hate to say it but wow for a design company the Figma UX is tragic.

Just realized that after 2 years of using it one of the docs we have been using is in my “personal” account apparently, and our company account billing stopped? That account is now “locked”

So I wanted to find what card it was billing against and… there is NO WAY I can find to figure out how it used to be billing.

The ONLY thing I can find after far too much time trying to figure it out is to just add a new payment method??

Seriously. Too painful to even bother at this point. I’ll just stick with the free account until I feel more like dealing with this awful UX.

Hey Brandon, apologies for the issues and I understand your frustration! I’ve created a support ticket on your behalf, so you’ll get some assistant sorting out your issue. You ticket number is #838466, for reference.

@Brandon_Gillespie It is indeed and it surprises me as well. One month ago I got an email that my next billing for 3 seats (3x15€) is due on April 13th. I have removed 2 users so only 1 was left. Before doing so, I have clicked on every link to see where I could downgrade so my only solution was to remove those users. I’m doing my monthly admin now and notice that Figma still billed for 3 seats. @Gayani_S how will Figma solve this?

Hey @Isabelle_Geerts, apologies for the delayed message!

I’ve just checked and seen that you’ve submitted a support ticket (Ticket number is #986146). You’ve received a reply from the support team, please take a look when you have a moment and let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Thanks,

Gayani

I absolutely HATE Figma’s “questionable” billing practices.

I recently paid my annual subscription and now find I am ALSO paying for a monthly seat in addition to my annual fees. Figma said it is a backup seat just in case - what???

I asked them to cancel that seat, but then they proceeded to cancel my annual account and continue charging me for the monthly seat.

This is absolutely confusing and not what I requested. I do not like this “additional seat” nonsense.

Hey @Lucky5, thank you for reaching out! I’m so sorry to hear about this frustrating experience. Let me help clarify and provide some guidance to get this sorted for you.

Figma subscriptions are tied to teams, not individual users, which means the team is billed for all editors who have access to the team or files. This includes any additional editors who interact with files as editors, even if your annual subscription already covers one seat. Once the number of active editors exceeds the annual seats included in your subscription, additional seats are charged monthly.

From what I’ve seen in your support ticket (#1181929), your annual plan covers one full Design seat, but your team is currently using two. That’s why you’re seeing a monthly charge for the extra seat.

To stop this additional charge, you can adjust the roles in your team to free up that seat:

  1. Go to your Admin Console (next to your team name in the file browser).

  2. Navigate to the Members or People tab.

  3. Use the filters to show members with a “Full” Design or FigJam seat.

  4. Change any extra “Full” roles to Viewer - Restricted to remove them from billing.

If you’d like to proceed with this adjustment, our support team is happy to assist with refunds for the past two months of additional charges. If you’d rather cancel your subscription entirely, they can refund your annual payment instead.

I truly understand how confusing and upsetting this situation can be, and I’m here to make sure your concerns are fully addressed. Please get back to our support team and let them know how you’d like to proceed, and they’ll take care of it.

Thank you for your patience, and again, I apologize for the frustration this has caused.
