Disable split screen view mode

I’d like to be able to disable the split screen option so that dragging a tab doesn’t move things into split screen mode, just opens a new Figma window like it used to.

Alternately, dragging the tab far enough away from the bar should imply a new window, while leaving plenty of space closer to the top available for split screen. It’s disorienting every time I think I’ve dragged it to a new window and the file still opens in split screen.

I would also like this feature. I accidentally create a split-screen window all the time when I am trying to show my work to colleagues. I pretty much never want to use the split-screen layout feature and I would like to be able to disable it.

Agreed. The split screen view is a hassle, not a convenience. Please add an option for disabling it.

Same opinion. SV has no benefits over 2 separate windows. Rather downsides, because in case of 2 windows I can have multiple files in each one. But since Split View has been added, I struggle a lot with dragging a new window out.

It would be nice to be able to turn it off. Or, at least, complicate the way to trigger it, so you could easily make a new window.

PLEASE get rid of split tabs. I only use this feature by mistake when I’m about to present and want to drag my file into its own window to share. Instead, it makes it worse by shoving it another window which I have to troubleshoot out of while flustered in a meeting with people waiting for me.

+1. I have my own effective workflow and window management system. Split tab has added to my friction and frustration. It’s harming, not helping

There’s never a time I wanted to use split screen, I want to drag a window out and place it beside the existing window. However, every time I try to do this I end up in split screen and I can never figure out how to get out of it. Prioritize dragging a window out NOT split screen. Split screen should be the secondary action not the primary action.

If figma is FULL screen there is no where to drag so I can avoid split screen! At least let me hold down a button like ‘shift’ so it opens in a new window. Such a waste of time, every time I accidentally get into split screen, I have to search again to find out how to get out of it. So frustrating!!
