I find managing template colors really difficult in Slides. I can’t easily organize, re-order, or rename them. I’ve found some ways to hack it but it feels really convoluted trying to provide color options in the templates I’m making.
I think Slides is doing a really great job on most fronts and I love the product, but I find myself just using colors from other libraries because managing them within Slides is so confusing.

Hey @Brian_Saunders, thanks for taking your time to share your feedback with us!
I’m going to pass this along to the teams for consideration.
I want to add on to this as someone new to Slides. I am struggling to figure out how to modify color variables in slides. It’s perfectly easy in regular Figma with the Styles panel…
I’m trying to rearrange colors in Figma Slides too.
One thing that I found useful whilst this is still in beta mode using a naming structure to help organise it a little more so for example, and obv. workaround the limitations of Figma Slides Colour management right now.
For backgrounds I might name the colour Backgrounds/Black, Backgrounds/Red… and so on. You can then do the same with text or brand colours so Text/White, or Brand/Blue.
This is then presented in a more organised way when selecting colours.
Hi, I would like to share also that it’s possible to set template colors based on team library colors, however it is not possible to track the library changes. This feature would be very useful to maintain consistency. OR have the option to select from the team library directly in the color selction field in slides. Having two ‘types’ of color variables, one for slides, one for designs is a bit confusing / bad UX and it’s easy to end up with inconsistencies.
Adding here, I would love to be able to reorder the colors in Figma Slides. I could find no way to drag and reorder them once created, so adding colors apparently needs to be done in order if you want your ramps to be organized at all. This makes building templates and experimenting really painful and time consuming. You can reorder the type styles, but why not color?
I am creating company templates in Figma Slides. I’d like to link to a Figma library of type styles and colors, but these don’t seem to be readily available. And then anything that is pasted into the slides retains it’s own color library, and it seems impossible to arrange in a way that will make the styles presented clean in the template. The interface is extremely confusing.
I would also like the ability to link a Slides color style to a variable in a team library. This would let me centrally manage all color variables.
Also, I would like to be able to set such a style as the default for newly created text objects, to avoid users accidentally using the default black when not indicated.
