Let us know what would make Figma better for you.

Many fonts provide automatic character variations based on the language hint, particularly Cyrillic and CJK languages. This is made possible through the OpenType Localized Form locl feature. This only works if the typesetting environment allows the user to declare the content language. Most professional typesetting software provides this feature, and it works on the web through the lang attribute. Figma currently lacks this capability and there’s no workaround. This is the intended design of Unicode, and OpenType expects applications to support this, and most new fonts tend to provide monolithic variable font files instead of separated by languages, and most font vendors have restrictive licenses that prevent users from hacking around the font file, so the only sensible solution is for Figma to support it. This was noted before.
Hey, I’m back with a new user story for the Figma product management team. I want to share an idea to improve Figma for design system engineers. It looks like Figma falls in love with prototypie-type guy designers and doesn’t care to design system engineers because in 2023 config release is conditional for them and 2024 year Figma slides 😅 Just kidding! Let’s get back to the problem. When developing a design system, we typically create core components first and then use them to create nested components. The best way to do this in Figma is by using the nested instance feature. However, a problem arises when I use a nested instance component in another parent component. I only want to edit one variant or boolean of my nested component, but Figma shows me all the variants, booleans, and text properties, making it complex to find the key variant or boolean to change. I believe that having a conditional logic or a boolean checklist for showing nested instance variants or booleans wo
Hello, I am wondering why you have separated text “layout” block, (fill width, within container, etc) and moved it above and away from "typography"UI block?? You have placed “appearance” weirdly inbetween the two, which should be moved to be above fill and stroke. This is incredibly inconvenient and has added a great deal of time to my flow, before I was easily able to adjust text all at once and now i have to move back and forth between the two. REALLY HATING THIS. At least allow custom organization of the UI blocks if you are trying to have the Figma layout match illustrator. ALSO WHY HAVE YOU HIDDEN UNION OBJECT IN A KEBAB?? WHY!!! This new ui is making me incredibly slow and is obviously hasn’t been thought through with actual designers in mind. Anyways I am enraged enough to submit this feedback that will never be read, instead of getting the work done that needs to be finished. Hello void…
If I am asked to review a branch merge, all i see is a notification in my alerts. If I view the notification it’s marked as Read, but there’s no way to go back and see all pending reviews that you haven’t approved yet. If I know I have a few pending reviews I need to go searching through branches to find out where they are. A way to view all pending reviews that I am an approver on would be helpful
It would be really helpful to have the ability to create an action for repetitive tasks. This tool would record a series of steps and allow a kind of automation to be “replayed” with a keyboard shortcut. Examples from other software would be actions in Photoshop and Illustrator, or macros in Excel. A tool like this would possibly need to act on a frame level, at least in our proposed use case. We do a lot of vector design edits which get really repetitive, mostly when building and editing custom icons that have to be pixel-perfect sizes for certain devices. At the moment the workflow is to either do it manually in Figma (combo of keyboard shortcuts, and reaching for the mouse for things like Booleans which don’t have shortcuts yet), or work in Illustrator and import into Figma at the end, when setting up the library of components. If there was a way to record some kind of custom automation in Figma, we would be able to have a more efficient workflow and to stay inside of Figma for the
When working with Figma, most of the time i would like to maximize my canvas as much as possible. working with an external screen is great, but sometimes its not enough, or even an option that does not exist. Most of the time my layers panel is collapsed since it is rarely being used. but the actions panel is being used quite constantly, mostly due to the fact that i need to adjust properties in my ready-made components. What if there was an option to keep the properties accessible without the need of the right side panel? lets say when selecting a component with properties, an icon or some other interaction would allow me to change these properties “on the fly” maybe something like this example: This would free up so much needed canvas space and also allow for quicker components adjustment Just to make my argument stronger, when right clicking on a component, users can change the instance and the property (variant) but this menu is dug very deep and requires to many interactions to m
We all do this, we all probably have a page called “Cover” or “Thumbnail” to hold the precious file thumbnail in our Figma design files. But when you think about it, why should this component take place in our well organized pages panel? Wouldnt it be nicer if there was a dedicated space for the thumbnail to be set as part of the design file “configuration”? for example (and sorry for using the “old” ui here 😇) This will lead users to a dedicated space where they can add an art board with the desired graphics and set it as a thumbnail (or maybe it will just happen automatically? who knows!)
When you move a layer to the folder, this object is always located at the top in the list of layers of this folder. And if you make a condition, if the layer is dragged on top of this folder, then the file will be at the top, if the layer is dragged from the bottom of the folder, then the layer will be located last in the folder.
Suggestion: Add Paste to replace function on UI3
Would be very useful when trying to apply different “branding” or styles using variables to be able to apply font styles as well. Currently we can only add numbers, colours, string, boolean.
To be able to scrub on the zoom amount to change the zoom size without having to click the field or type a number in and without the dropdown menu coming out.
How am I supposed to build muscle memory with UI 3 if elements keep shifting depending on what’s selected? In the previous UI, all essential controls—position, size, and clipping—were consistently located at the top, and their looks rarely change. In theory regrouping properties based on their type is a cool idea but in reality it create so much friction as it takes an extra moment to reorient with each new selection. and having all properties contained in boxes isnt helping. Please consider either restoring the previous structure or providing an option to use the old structure. While I could revert to the old UI for now, it’s unclear how long that option will remain available.
I’m really missing the capability to animate objects in slides. To for example just simply click to reveal is bare minimum for me. Yes I can create 4 slides to make it seem like I click to reveal as a workaround. And when it comes to smart animate I would like some control about time and speed of the animation.
I think “Every” Figma users must connect each frame with arrow line. But we cannot copy properties of arrow. Every times I have to draw line and select start point and end arrow head. Please let the properties able to be copied and paste properties. It should be super helpful.
The latest Figma is really good but Can we get an edit in photoshop and illustrator option as well for image and vector edit?
This tool bar take a big place on the board.
I would love if we could be able to define variables by referencing other variables. So for instance for numbers, (Var 3) = (Var 1) + (Var 2). An example use case would be creating a counter badge on a checkout icon that increases as different a user adds products to the cart from an array of cards. You can set variables in this way with an interaction in a prototype but it’s really time consuming having to add and maintain Set Variable interactions across several buttons.

Whenever a “Style” is backed by a “Variable”, like how we do typography style changes, it doesn’t show the values change in the design panel, even though that’s what’s actually going on in the UI and backend. I noticed that switching to Dev Mode shows the correct values though. Is there a plan to fix this?
Hi! One thing thats great about standard Figma is if you paste an image to replace a current one it only changes the image itself, not the format. In slides pasting to replace removes any formatting, so if you have scaled an image and then paste to replace it with a new image, it doesn’t adopt the scaling of of the original.
Currently, the only way to set a default mode of a variable collection is for an Admin of a Enterprise level plan to set that up in the library settings. Proposed solution is to allow users to define which mode is the default. As a team of designers who use variables on a Professional level plan, this requires us to remember to change our default mode as our default has now changed from when we first created our library and variables. Ideally, we could right click the table header of the variable mode name, and “Set as default”. Thanks!
Hi Figma, Yesterday 10.09.2024, I was able to group sections and frames together by pressing ctrl+g. However, today that option no longer works. Here’s an image for reference: left side shows sections and frames grouped, while the right side shows sections and frames unable to be grouped. Currently, I’m unsure if this was a feature or a bug; either or, it would be nice to have this ability reinstated, as I found it to be quite useful when organizing my work, thanks! 🥳
I’ve encountered a situation where I need to set “Case” in type settings differently across modes in a system. Some of the brands I work with require all caps for headings, while others do not. This variation is often due to brand guidelines, and in some cases, it’s a contractual obligation between partner brands. Currently, this means managing case settings outside of Figma variables, often through a style sheet, which increases the risk of these settings being overlooked by designers. The alternative would be duplicating multiple styles for each brand, but this approach feels inefficient and cumbersome. Is there a better way to manage text case variations using Figma variables without duplicating styles?
Currently, the number (#000) of a comment is not shown in the active panel. This is only shown in the overview list. Showing on an active panel prevents additional searching. If a comment panel is active, you have to manually scroll to it in the overview list. This should actually be shown automatically (at the top of the list). This prevents an additional action from the user.
Imagine an interactive prototype of a dynamic table interface. This table contains various components such as rows, dropdowns, and other elements that list information, typically user data. The key feature of this prototype is its ability to demonstrate how users can manipulate the table’s content in real-time. For example, consider a scenario where you’re showcasing the functionality of sorting users alphabetically. The prototype allows you to switch between ascending and descending order. To achieve this, you need to reorder the individual row instances within the parent table instance. This functionality not only applies to sorting but also extends to changing the quantity of displayed items or rearranging them based on different criteria. The prototype’s interactivity enables users to experience these dynamic changes, providing a realistic simulation of the final product’s behavior.
