I’d like Figma components to support conditional/dependent properties inside the Properties panel.Current problem:Large design system components often expose many boolean, variant, text, slot, and instance-swap properties at the same time. Some of these properties depend on each other, but today they stay independent.Example:- If `Show Badges = false`, then `Slot Badges` should be hidden or disabled.- If `State = Active`, then `New Message`, `Show Separator`, and `Swap Icon` could automatically switch to predefined values.- If `Badge mode = Match`, then credential badges should be hidden automatically.- If one badge group is enabled, another mutually exclusive badge group should be disabled.Current workaround:We have to create more variants, nested components, or expose multiple booleans manually. This works, but it makes component APIs noisy and allows invalid states.Suggested feature:Add simple conditional rules for component properties, for example:- when property A = true, set prop
In our design system we have different styles that are connected to variables. We are using a variable font and we can apply number variables to font-weight (300, 400, 500, 700 etc.).We could also use string variables, which works if we used the standardized font-style and weights (“Bold italic”, “Semibold Italic” etc.). However, we don’t.I’ve noticed that when I’ve picked “Italic” and set a numbered font-weight (variable font axes) the dropdown shows the font-style (“Italic”) and the weight (550) separated by a comma.I was hoping and thinking that perhaps if I made a variable that matched the text in the dropdown “Italic, Weight: 550”, it would work. Nope, it didn’t. Proposed solutionSo, we would like if the font-weight could accept this type of combined variable or a more semantically correct solution: separate font-style and font-weight into two inputs in the UI and let us use separate variables for them. I am an enterprise customer. Our team uses text variables to maintain a large library of metadata. It’s used in multiple parts of our files and has become integral to our workflows via fast iteration and advanced prototyping. Please bring text styling (aka forced line breaks, bolding, italics, bullets, etc.) to text variables. It would be extremely useful to my entire org and help us continue to utilize Figma variables as an integral part of our workflow.Because we don’t have the feature, we run into many inconsistencies across design files and have a hard time maintaining a library.
Whatever I try, I can’t seem to work with .mov or .webm videos with transparent background on Figma. Whenever I upload them, I get a black background. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a workaround for this?
Example:I have a bunch of elements that intentionally have a fixed height and width applied to them.I want to put them in a grid. When I do so - their width and height changes to fill. This is an unwanted destructive change and should be fixed or at least have a way to override. Is this how flex works in css? I don’t think it is - using display: flex - children keep their intrinsic size unless you explicitly opt into growing.
In Figma Make when chatting to the AI and writing bullet points, I expect hitting Enter to create a new bullet point, but it sends my incomplete chat to the agent, wasting me time and credits.
I would like to highlight all the connectors from a given object in Figjam. For example, if I have a block that has several connectors coming into and out of it to many other blocks, right clicking on the block and “highlight all / highlight incoming / highlight outgoing” options. It would make all the other connectors on the screen transparent or greyed out so that I can easily see which objects are connected to my object and how its connected.
I would love if I can curve this line path. On the canvas itself.
I haven’t found this in “coming soon” for variables… As it works now, a variable can control properties only of the topmost component instance. You have to assign a variable again and again to each instance each time you place it, you can not nest components with variables at all.
There is lot of market out there which provides illustrations or assets in the form of EPS. (for example, freepik assets). Prototyping tools like sketch already supporting the EPS file and it’s easy to use them inside it. But Figma lacks the support of it and I think we should have that in the near future. Do you guys know any workaround to import the eps into figma ? I am preferring a free approach because illustrator and sketch are paid tools.
This could be a very simple but welcomed adjustment from Figma that could have great impact on the way we work. Hundreds of times a day we select either a color, text or effect style. The problem is the amount of unnecessary scrolling we have to do to get to the values we want to use. It seems like a very simple code adjustment that would greatly speed up our work.
Hi Figma team,I’d like to share feedback about the new layer thumbnails / previews that appear in the Layers panel. These small background previews create a significant amount of visual noise. Instead of quickly scanning layer names, the eye is constantly drawn to the gray squares and tiny images. In practice this makes the panel harder to use when working quickly:White or light-colored icons become almost invisible on the gray thumbnail background. Many layers end up looking like nearly identical gray rectangles. Text names lose visual priority — you start looking at the pictures instead of reading the layer names. Overall scanability of the Layers panel drops noticeably, especially in large files with many similar components or icons. For fast everyday work the previous, cleaner list of layers (without these previews) was much more efficient. The current thumbnails rarely provide useful information and mostly add distraction. It would be great to have an option to turn these layer previe
Hi Figma team,I’d like to share some feedback on recent UI changes that affect everyday workflows. 1. Inconsistent way to apply number variables to Width / HeightPreviously it was easy to bind a variable to dimensions. Now the behavior is inconsistent:For Width and Height the only reliable way I’ve found is to click into the number field and press =. Right-click on the Width/Height field does not offer “Apply variable” (quick btn was the best). At the same time, at least right-click on Corner radius still shows “Apply variable”.The old quick affordances (variable icon / Apply variable in the dropdown) seem to have been removed from Dimensions and Corner radius, which makes the action much harder to discover. The = shortcut works, but it feels like a hidden workaround rather than a clear primary method. It would be great if Width/Height and Corner radius had the quick btns or at least the same right-click / hover affordances as Corner radius (and other numeric properties). 2. Create Comp
Hey there! I was also wondering if it is somehow possible to include also the layer of variant controls to be exposed or hid! I often have cases where I need to nest base components e.g. an icon wrapper providing me with the ability to select certain sizes, or color overrides and boolean props of an icon. I am now able to expose all of those or none, but I can’t restrict the users to only be able to select just some of those. What do you think about it?
Nice to have the option to “hide from publishing” a whole column on the variable table or the option to “hide” a mode.
Describe the problem your experiencing and how your idea helps solve this When you create an autolayout frame, it always defaults to 10px. Many design systems call for an 8px grid and in many cases, users don’t want ANY padding especially where edge-to-edge designs are concerned. Ask questions to bring the community into the conversation What are everyone’s thoughts about the following solutions?: Default autolayout padding based on the big nudge amount in your settings Allow for tokenization of padding/margin grids and offer up autolayout parameters based upon those tokens Allow users to override the padding to 0px at the creation of the autolayout frame by using an alternative key command like ctrl+shift+a (command on mac)
It would be super beneficial to have a feature that allows for zooming in/out on prototype presentations, this would allow us to focus in on smaller details when needed!
Hi Figma team,I’d love to suggest an improvement to PDF export.Use case: I often work on a single page that contains many frames (slides / variants / iterations). Today, if I need a clean single multi-page PDF (one PDF containing multiple pages), the best option is File → Export frames to PDF.Problem: this exports everything on the page and the page order depends on the layout (left-to-right, top-to-bottom). In real files, I usually have draft frames, alternative versions, notes, etc. So to export only what I want, I often end up: moving/hiding unrelated frames, or copying the frames to a brand new page just for export. That’s extra friction compared to Adobe XD, where exporting a multi-page PDF from a selection is straightforward.Feature request: Add an export option like “Export selected frames as multi-page PDF” With a toggle: Selection only And ideally a choice for page order: selection order / layer order / auto order (L→R, T→B) Alternative idea: allow users to “group/tag fr
It would be incredibly helpful if people could download a PDF copy of a prototype presentation!
I would love it if we had a way to export multiple PDF pages as an export option. Do we have that option here in Figma? If not, that would be awesome if we did!
People have been complaining about this for years. I have to add ® and ™ to strings of text in my artboards. The superscript version of the character must be the same size as the rest of the text string, or it will not be vertically aligned properly with the rest of the text. The ®™ symbols are much too large, especially in headlines, but if you reduce the font size of that character, it drops down too low and is no longer in the superscript position. In Sketch or any other proper app, you can adjust the baseline of the specific character (baseline shift) so that you can re-align it properly. You can EASILY accomplish this in CSS and create specific styling for the “sup” tag which handles this in code. Why is it nearly impossible to replicate what is easy in any other app in Figma? I’ve seen people complaining about this since 2018, so I take that as an assumption that Figma will never fix this issue? The only way to get a properly aligned and sized ® or ™ in a line of text is to creat
In Figma desktop, it would be super helpful to group to tag different tabs. With many files open it is hard to find and organize the tabs I am working on. I often have around 20 tabs open. Similar to how chrome groups tabs.
Is it possible to create my own custom shapes for use as shapes in FigJam? I am drawing complex process flows, and I need to use a few vector grphics (for example, an octagon) which I created with Adobe Illustrator as FigJam ‘shapes’ so that I can annotate them with text and connect them to other shapes with connector lines. I haven’t been able to find instructions on how to do this. Is this doable? If so, please let me know how. Thank you in advance.
The problem:Right now, when creating complex interactive prototypes, you have to manually set up the same animation and trigger settings for every single new connection. The suggestion:Introduce a feature that allows users to copy properties from one prototype interaction and paste them onto a new or existing connection (e.g., using a shortcut like Cmd/Ctrl + Option/Alt + C and V while in Prototype mode). It should work exactly like copying fills and strokes between frames in Design mode. This would drastically speed up workflow efficiency, especially when fixing or rebuilding flows from scratch. Example: Copy the connection properties from other frames and paste in Interactions.
Hi! I’ve been testing figma motion and I noticed the preview is always at 60fps or more, not really sure, but there is no way to change the preview to something else, I would need to be exporting the video at 30fps or 24fps everytime I want to check on animation timing. Any way to change that or is it something for an upcoming update?
