Auto-Layout has padding (inner spacing), but no margins (outer spacing). Currently the only 2 ways to add spacing is to: Create a spacer element or Wrap the items in another frame and apply gap spacing This creates a lot of unnecessary frames, and sometimes creates nesting so deep it goes outside the layers panel. Not sure if a technical limitation left this out of consideration in the first few versions of Auto Layout, but it would be much appreciated if it were included in a future version as it comes up as a significant limitation many times a day.
Figma motion does not currently have the ability to play and export video fills, so video objects are treated as static images. The ability to incorporate video objects into the timeline would be extremely helpful. Exposing the current frame of a video as a keyframeable property be a great solve.
It would be great if we could select different device frames for each flow. This would give huge benefits to those who design responsive websites side by side.
There should be an easier way to change text formatting to text on the same page. Similar to eyedropper tool with colour, but changes text to the same format as what was selected. There is a feature like this in Illustrator, and I use it all the time.
Hi Figma team,I’m developing a plugin that exports Figma Motion animations to PAG, Tencent’s vector animation file format. While working on this exporter, I’ve encountered several gaps between Figma Motion’s canvas rendering and the animation data currently exposed through the Plugin API.The most important issue is the transform anchor or pivot point. I cannot find a reliable API for reading the actual anchor used by Motion. This becomes critical when a designer has manually adjusted the anchor point. Reconstructing it from the node bounds, relativeTransform, absoluteTransform, or the first animation frame is not always accurate, especially for rotated groups and nested nodes.I also could not find detailed documentation explaining how node.animations should be interpreted and reproduced outside Figma. Some areas that need clarification include:Whether Position values are absolute coordinates, parent-space values, or offsets from the static transform. How Position, Rotation, Scale, Width
Currently Figma only allows scrolling to objects within the same frame. This makes difficult to hyperlink to a particular location in a different frame. E.g. when making the main navigation menu in a website to navigate to specific headings in a different page
Hi! First, thanks to the Figma team for all the hard work. Now, let’s talk about Figma Slides Templates. To edit the template styles, I have to select a slide first — which feels a bit unintuitive. In Figma, when you click on the canvas without selecting anything, you can access the file’s styles. Can we bring that same concept into Slides? When I open the template selector, I can edit the styles there through a dropdown. Is that really the best or only way to manage styles in Figma Slides? I don’t think so.Colors & Text Styles: I can delete them, but only through a pretty complex interaction — right-click?Layout Grid: How can I set a default grid? Right now, I have to manually add my custom grid to every new slide I create. If we can't set a default, the feature kind of loses its purpose. :(
Would be great to add a button/dropdown to quickly order variant properties alphabetically in the ‘Edit variant property’ modal.
Is there a way to select instances and swap their components (or the values of their variants) that are different sizes and not have them pinned to the top left? So if I have a tall component and want to swap it for a wide component, I’d like it to stay anchored to the centre of the current instance’s position. It seems like being able to choose one of the 9 anchor points (NW > SE) would be a feature, but I cannot see it.I tried to make a plugin to do it, which worked (though ‘groups’ did mess it up the coordinates system; frames worked fine) but the plugin was unable to source my library files (teamLibrary?) for items possibly due to API restrictions. This plugin would solve the issue entirely, but if it cannot access library components, it’s non-viable.Thanks all,
Figma Make publishes pages as Client Side Rendered but we’d like to have the option to publish pages with Static Site Generation to support: minor crawlers LLM crawlers faster indexing of pages per-page OG tags and link previews, etc…Other suggestions which fall under this umbrella have targeted how to add robots.txt a sitemap and other static files, e.g. So, we’re asking something that would fundamentally address that without the need of workarounds
I use sections religiously for organizing my files. I color-code them by experience, status (just the one “Ready for dev” status just ain’t enough), user type, and screen size. I waste a lot of time manually choosing styles each time, or duping them, dragging mocks in and resizing. Would be really, really, helpful to save section styles to my design system.
Thanks for adding annotations to Design Mode. I have been spending the last day annotating some new design ideas. People who have access to the Figma file love that they can read come design rationale and interaction behaviors. For others, who do not have access, or do not use Figma it would be great if I can export the annotations associated with objects inside a frame. Thanks, K.
Is there a way to export annotations. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to do that or at least share the annotations with someone who does have not a Figma account? Thanks!
When I paste large images into Figma, they end up a fraction of the original width/height and really blurry. In the many cases where there’s text, it can hardly be read. This issue is due to a limitation by Figma to reduce the longest edge of an image to less than 4096 pixels as outlined in the Support Note here. On retina Macs, images are reduced to less than 2048 pixels if image resolution is set at 2x, which is incredibly common. Often, I’m dropping in screenshots of existing webpages, so that I can design alongside them or have them as a comparison reference for stakeholders. Other times I design with code and want to bring over the screenshots for my product manager to create the copy or make edits with comments. Sometimes Figma is a place to bring together new ideas and functions like an artboard. But in all these cases, and many more, I run into this limitation causing great pixelation. I understand Figma’s aim for us to design within their application but it should fully suppor
I regularly need to work with screenshots of webpages, which can be a couple thousand pixels tall. I need these images to be actual size. Can’t do this in Figma cause it automatically scales large images down. I know there’s a plugin but this seems like a silly thing to rely on a plugin for, there should be an option native to Figma that lets us shut this function off. Or give us an option to scale the image back up to the original dimensions? (even if the quality’s going to get wrecked) This has been such a huge thorn in my side! Please & thank you!
Hello,I'm really pleased with the new Figma Motion update, but I discovered that I'm not able to apply path animations to hand-drawn vectors.I wanted to create an animation of my own handwriting using my Apple Pencil on my iPad, connected to my Mac via Sidecar. Is there any chance that a future update will add support for animating more complex vector paths? FIGMA AI told me that this isn't possible at the moment.Thank you in advance for your answer.
Hi there! I’ve been messing around with figma motion for the past day or so, and am loving it. This is going to speed up my workflow so much as a motion designer at a company who was previously primarily using After Effects. There are a few core features that are missing that would really take this to the next level:ParentingProbably the biggest thing missing for me. Right now there is no way to link a layer to another layer, seemingly. An example of when this would be useful:I’m animating a logo, and I want the word to appear from behind the glyph. The glyph is moving left, and the type is moving right I have a mask for my text that needs to move left with the glyph, while the type animates right (opposite the mask) There is currently no way to link the movement of the mask to the movement of the glyph to reveal my text, if I want the text to move independently of the glyph (because the mask is linked to the text, separating it and putting it in the glyph’s movement group means it is
I have hacked my way to do this Drop Cap on Figma but I think it’ll be a good feature to consider under the typography property.
hey there! variables seems to be super nice but what i am missing is that if i make a colour alias to a specific collection - i can’t set the opacity separately (e.g. colour 50 with 20% opacity) So basically i want the colouyr to be from another collection and i want to set the alpha seperatly (controlled as rgba - since i dont need it as opacity) Example how we can fix this in token studio: So what i want is that i can set blue/5 and then the opacity (which i dont want to capture in another colour variable) Now its only possible if i break the link with gray/75 - and then i loose the reference to that colour
Hi team,I've been playing with glass effects in Figma Site, but they don't seem to render properly in the preview. Is this a known limitation of Figma Site's current capabilities, or am I potentially missing something in my setup? Thanks!
Feature Request: Add a Size Picker for Resizing Multiple Objects from a Reference ShapeOverviewI would like to propose a Size Picker tool for Figma—a simple way to resize multiple selected objects using the dimensions of another object as the reference. The interaction would work similarly to Figma’s color picker: Select one or more objects that need to be resized. Activate the Size Picker. Click another object on the canvas as the reference. All selected objects immediately adopt the reference object’s width and height. In other words, it would function like an eyedropper, but for object dimensions.ProblemDesigners frequently need multiple images, cards, frames, or other elements to have identical dimensions. The current process generally requires designers to: Inspect the width and height of a reference object. Select the other objects. Manually enter the same dimensions. Repeat the process when working with different groups or reference sizes. This becomes repetitive and
Add a "Favorites" tab or a star icon to the font picker.
Hi Figma Team,First of all, thank you for continuously improving Variables—they've become an essential part of our design systems and interactive prototypes.I'd like to request a feature that would greatly improve the experience for designers building financial, banking, investment, insurance, analytics, and data-driven products.ProblemCurrently, Number Variables only display raw numeric values without any formatting options.1000100001000001000000123456789However, in real applications these values are displayed according to the user's locale. For Indian users:1,00010,0001,00,00010,00,00012,34,56,789For US/International users:1,00010,000100,0001,000,000123,456,789Because this formatting is not available, designers have to use string variables, manually type formatted values, or create unnecessary workarounds, which defeats many of the benefits of Number Variables. Proposed SolutionIntroduce a Formatting section when editing a Number Variable.Example: Edit Variable────────────────────────
Hello, It’s possible in the future to export a Figma frame’s on editable PowerPoint, like it’s possible on Canva ? I know isn’t the principal functionality on Figma, but I think it’s a new possibility to create 😃
