Over the last few months Figma has started to run very slow. Even when performing simple tasks like deleting pages or publishing components, the difference in performance is extremely noticeable. I either see the loading spinner for way longer than I should or the icon in the top bar that indicates Figma is struggling to save changes. This is having an big impact on my (and my colleagues) productivity. Please can you investigate and report back?

As mentioned in our previous announcement on X, the root cause of the recent spike in errors should be fixed now. You may need to refresh your tabs to see the changes.

I am having the same issue. Opening a file now takes minutes and the file is a 6% Memory file… extremely small… I use a ton of variables as well, and I have sent in bug tickets but its driving me insane

Today 20/05/2025, I’m still having serious performance issues, especially when a file becomes larger with complex components. (I’m using the desktop app on a macbook pro 2024). The strange thing is, the memory usage is still very low (like 8%)…

I think the main thing Figma can’t handle so well right now is Components inside Components. I like to use placeholder/section swap components, which is a component with an instance swap component inside. And that instance swap component is usually a complex component in itself.

Besides that, I have a main desktop (breakpoint) frame which I again have as a component (with several section swap components inside), with then 3 breakpoint instances of it (mobile, sm, and lg). This way, a change in the main component reflects immediately to my other breakpoints.

Please, ensure that we can use all of Figma’s wonderful features and complexity without having it lagging as hell.

Hey @Olivier15 , thanks for the detailed feedback—and I’m really sorry you’re still experiencing performance issues. We understand how frustrating that can be, especially when you're making full use of components as intended!

Even with low memory usage, other factors might be affecting performance, and we’d like to investigate further.

Could you please submit a bug report here? This will help our engineering team look more closely at your setup.

We’re committed to improving performance so you can work without interruptions in Figma. Thanks again for flagging this—it truly helps us improve Figma  🙏🏼
