I searched for this topic, all solutions fail. I am on a mac. It was working yesterday, nothing change, apart from reboot.

Apple Mac M2, 32G raqm.macOS Sono,a Version 14.6

I can edit my files in Chrome, but I get this message when i use the app, my suspicion is there is a problem with the Figma server, but the speed of the response seems to imply a local problem. I tried all the suggestions such as clear cache, turn on and off the hardware acceleration, I removed the app and reinstalled, rebooted. and its not the file size, as I tried to open other designs, and all fail such as the default app that came with Figma.

So either the devs need to have better reporting on what the problem is rather than a blanket message such as we can’t open the file, and also this is odd, since its not a file, it is in the Figma server which is also misleading. Or have a set of checks for common problems such as unable to reach server, try later, to give clues. in the mean time, I am now using the browser, but what is the real solution to this so called Random event?

I can get you connected with our technical support team to get this sorted, before that could you please confirm if you’re seeing this following error message?



“Uh oh… we can’t open that file. We can’t open this file because we’re having trouble with WebGL. Please try restarting the desktop app.”?


You’ll see that error when something on your browser or network is blocking use of WegGL which Figma needs access to work. Technical Troubleshooting Tips and Configure your browser for Figma cover our requirements in more depth.

Can you check if you see the same error in the browser — if you do, please go to https://get.webgl.org/ and check if it shows WebGL is enabled? If you do not see a spinning cube you can enable WebGL by following the link on that page that says ‘visit the support site for your browser.’


If you see the spinning cube there, can you go to https://webglreport.com/ and take a screenshot of both tabs for us (WebGL 1 & 2) and contact our support team (https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) to let them know what Browser you have tested in?



However, if you’re error message looks different can you share a screenshot of your error message with me please?

I tried repling the email but was rejected, so there are other problems in the back ground, any way in regards to this issue, as I mentioned, Browser operations are normal, I can use Figma through chrome, and webgl version 1 and 2 still working fine too. It has somthing to do with the app. The responce is to fast to have reached the server. so its local, I did reinstall. for getting debug information anything I can do to help, let me know, I collected the following from the dev mode in Figma.

I can see that it is a eicon or other web app wrapped in a Mac compile, so problem could be there, I checked permissions, but no entries in the security settings to see.
