Dear community

I’m facing an issue with my prototype that’s perplexing me. Despite utilizing only 6% of the available memory, the loading times are unbearably slow, often resulting in complete blockages. The majority of the prototyping process involves utilizing variants .

I’m reaching out to seek insights and assistance in understanding what could be causing this discrepancy. Could someone shed some light on potential reasons behind this issue? Your expertise and guidance would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. To investigate, let me ask some questions.

  • Are you seeing this across browser and desktop app?

If you see it only in the desktop app, clearing cache on desktop app sometimes can improve the situation, so could you try? You can clear cache from the menu bar on Desktop app - Help > Troubleshooting > Clear Cache and Restart. Please make sure that you don’t have any unsaved tasks before clearing cache. You can also clear the cache in the browser and the desktop by following step: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040328553-What-can-I-do-offline-in-Figma#clear-data

  • Is it just happening with a certain interactions/ components? Did you set the components in that file or using instances?

In this case, there might be any optimizations that can be made to improve the performance.

If the issue persists, could you reach out directly to the support team with a copy of your file: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new? They can look into it.

Please make sure you use the email associated with your Figma account, include links to the file in question, and share access with support-share@figma.com. Don’t worry, inviting us to view your file won’t impact your billing.

Thanks,

Toku

Hi Toku,

Thanks for your response. I appreciate your thorough investigation process.

Regarding your question about whether the issue is specific to certain interactions/components, I’ve taken steps to address that. I separated the components into another file, which aids in optimizing performance as it reduces the complexity within individual files. This organization allows for better management and troubleshooting of components and instances.

Best regards,

Salma
