Is there a way to add new elements at the bottom of the hierarchy?

New Figma user here.

One thing that is really annoying me is that every time I add anything new, it’s added to the top of the hierarchy in the “layers” view on the left. But I’m drawing things from top to bottom so I’d like to arrange them that way. Right now I have to drag it to the bottom every time I add a new item to where I want it. Is there a way to tell Figma to add new stuff at the bottom?

Hi zjin,
New layers are always added on top, there is no setting that allows you to change the way layers are added (someone can correct me if I’m mistaken).

You can do as Gleb suggest, use [ to send to back or cmd + [ to send backwards 1 layer at a time. You can try searching for plugins as well such as “reverse layers”.

Press the [ key (no modifiers) and the object will be sent to the bottom. No need to drag and drop.
