Currently, Figma’s Plugin API provides extensive capabilities for creating, updating, and managing design tokens through variables. However, there is no direct method to programmatically sort these variables within the Variables panel. The ability to sort variables is crucial for maintaining organized and easily navigable collections, especially as the number of variables grows in complex design systems. While styles in Figma offer a moveLocal*After method that allows developers to reorder them programmatically, there is no equivalent functionality for variables. Implementing this feature would greatly enhance the utility of the Plugin API, aligning it with existing features available for styles and improving workflow automation for developers and designers alike. Hi Everyone, So I have been cooking my brain over how to make this component work for my client and I finally managed to get it to a state where the hover state for an entire row is activated. I managed this by aliasing a text variable that aligned with the variant states on my table cell atom components. (See image below) I then auto layout these atoms together to give me table columns with the ability to hide and show to give less/more rows as required. The problem I am having is when I test this out in a prototype, the cell resets to the default value rather than keeping its text property override. You can see from the video below that when I hover on the specific cell, it does keep the text property but when I hover on a different cell type (Number or Checkbox in the example) it resets to the default value. Any and all help would be amazing. Thanks in advance.

I made a presentation, and added the prototype but when I want to view the presentation it is extremely zoomed in and I can’t see everything within the frame. I think my frame is for an iPhone 14 and the prototype is selected for that device as well, I tried with no device and the zoom is still. If someone knows how to fix it let me know please. huge.

Hello 👋 I have a component that I want to get rid of, but I can’t go to the main component! I searched through the Figma search engine in the file where it should be, but clicked on “go to main component” and I couldn’t find it. When I click on “go to main component” I am redirected to my design system page (where it should be) but it does not tell me the location of the component in question. I did cmd + A to select everything and deleted everything (maybe it was hidden somewhere) but the same. Thank you in advance for your help ps: obviously I have all the rights to the 2 files, the component is custom created from A to Z by myself

Is anyone getting a “You have been logged out of Figma…” notice? Just started happening 5 minutes ago while editing text in a Figma file. The entire message reads: Changes cannot be saves You have been logged out of Figma so your changes cannot be saved at the moment. To save your changes, you can either copy and paste the content to a new file or choose “Save As .fig” from the “File” menu. Who is able to log me out of enterprise-Figma? Thx.

I am developing a plugin for Figma, and I have been trying to modify the default font family that the UI uses by default, however, any attempt to force a custom font via CSS did not work. I am starting to wonder if this is really possible. So for trying to change the font family, in the ui.html file, in the section, I have something like the code below. I have my font file in a folder named “fonts” inside the plugin folder. @font-face { font-family: 'myExampleFont-Regular'; src: url('./fonts/myExampleFont-Regular.otf'); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; } .someSpanClassElement{ ....bla bla bla... font-family: 'myExampleFont-Regular'; } Any tips, or confirmation that changing plugin UI font-family is not possible will be much appreciated.

I work with Figma in my company and I do have a web-browser-based access to my teams pages/etc, however I’ve just downloaded Win desktop app and logged in with same company credentials… and nothing is synchronized (I am a lonely newbie in my desktop app :/)… has anybody suffered similar case?

Hi! I’m having some issues with my components turning into frames that contain variations, and I’m not sure why. This results in the child components not communicating with the parent component. I’m not sure if the picture uploaded correctly, but as you can see, on the artboard, it looks like a parent component, but in the layers panel, it appears as something else…

Hi, i am trying to prototype an onboarding screen which needs to be dragged to get to the next screen but i don’t seem to get. i tried to set the prototype drag between the two frames but it didn’t drag, i tried to set between the swipe icon and the next frame but nothing happened, i even tried to set as a component. Please help me i am so confused and stuck.

Hi everyone, Did anyone faced an issue when variant is missing when you switch mode? Let’s say I have a component with 2 variants: default, disabled. I link it’s instance to a string value with the same name. When I switch mode, it works perfectly fine, but in design system file only. Once published it stops working. As soon as I switch mode, instance disappears. Regenerate all instances (slow) command fixes the issue, but temporarily only until next launch. If another users opens the file, they don’t see a component if they don’t run a command or simply double click where instance suppose to be. Also, the actual component has a nested component, maybe this is a reason why it doesn’t work? But if it’s so, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. I mean, I have a bunch of _base sub components or atoms, which I use in a complex components and not willing to sacrifice them. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if anyone knows how to remove a variable through the plugin API. I couldn’t find anything by analyzing the documentation.

When I select certain elements in FigJam and export them as images (png,jpg), large margins are created. When exporting, no margins are required. Is there any way to export without these margins? *I am referring to the behavior on FigJam, not Figma

When viewing the asset panel that includes components which use a slash naming convention, for example… page-name/component-group-name/component-a-name page-name/component-group-name/component-b-name …within Figma’s UI3’s asset panel, these components no longer show the tree nodes defined by that slash naming convention. Instead they only show the component name. In Figma’s previous asset panel UI, the slash naming convention organized components into nodes. Is this a bug in UI3? Meaning should we expect the slash naming convention to work as it has? or will component organization no longer organize itself the same way in UI3? Would be very helpful to understand as lots of design systems leverage this naming convention to help organizations find things (even when using search).
