Help! this is happening to me now. All the images in my file disappeared, both web and desktop, and in FigJam. baffled!
I found a troubleshooting option that appears to have worked! I used a colleague’s account on a different Macbook which I connected to iPhone hotspot first to access the file and all of the images reappeared! From there I saved a local copy of the file (File>Save Local Copy) which I then moved to my laptop and imported back into figma.
Interestingly after I had finished this & went to check the original file with the missing images on my laptop and normal internet, all of my images had reappeared there as well.
This problem needs to be fixed, I now know I can’t trust Figma’s image servers at all.
Hey All, thanks for chiming in here!
I completely understand how frustrating this situation must be, so I want to assure you that this community exists to help. This topic was originally from 2024, so any recent issues are not likely going to be related to the same bug.
To start troubleshooting what’s happening, can you let me know if you're noticing the issue in the canvas, preview, or when it is published?
And have any of you checked past versions of the file to see if the photos are still appearing there as before? For reference, here's our help center article on how to View a file's version history.
In the past, this has been a caching issue I can get around by clearing cache/using a differeny browser/etc.
This time, the images are literally being replaced by white-filled shapes. They’re missing for both my client’s view and my view, on multiple browsers. When I review Version History, the images are missing from all versions (show up as just a blank shape — screenshot below) —

This kind of thing is honestly totally unsustainable for Figma and really makes me wary of continuing to use the platform.
