As promised, I am back to deliver (hopefully) good news.

I have just heard from our engineering teams and they have deployed a fix for this issue.

Please refresh your files and, if needed, clear cache from your browser or desktop app (whichever you are using). Let us know if the issue still persists for you!

Hey everyone, thank you for flagging this! I’d love to help figure out what’s going on.

To get a better understanding, could you share a bit more information?

  • Is this happening in the desktop app, browser, or both?

  • When did you first notice it? Has it been happening consistently over the last couple of days?

  • Does it affect one specific file or all files?

  • How often are you experiencing this?

If you’re able to, a screen recording would be really helpful. That way, I can take a closer look and try to get this resolved for you. Thanks so much!

I ran in to this issue as well now. Panicking as I have a major presentation coming up and everything is gone.

I ran in to this issue as well now. Panicking as I have a major presentation coming up and everything is gone.

Same problem & same day. I was in the middle of an important presentation, exited the preview mode to show something else and when I restarted preview every image was gone. This was Friday afternoon, it’s now Monday afternoon and the only response I’ve received from support is a “we’re looking into it” message.

This has the potential to cost us a significant amount of money, I look very bad and Figma doesn’t offer any live chat (human) let alone phone support options.

@Jackson Ringger if you haven’t already, maybe try the clearing browser & app caches trick in case that works for you? Obviously didn’t for me but might be worth a shot. Here’s a discussion about the issue & how to clear the caches:

Hello! I’m having the same issue other people are describing since yesterday. My images are not showing on my projects. They came back for a while this morning and they are gone again. Other people can see them too. I’ve tried all the recommendations already and none are working.

It’s now Day 5 with no resolution. Support replies once daily to my help ticket and today it was a copy/paste of Monday’s note. What wonderful incredible & very thoughtful customer support.

I found a troubleshooting option that appears to have worked! I used a colleague’s account on a different Macbook which I connected to iPhone hotspot first to access the file and all of the images reappeared! From there I saved a local copy of the file (File>Save Local Copy) which I then moved to my laptop and imported back into figma.

Interestingly after I had finished this & went to check the original file with the missing images on my laptop and normal internet, all of my images had reappeared there as well.

This problem needs to be fixed, I now know I can’t trust Figma’s image servers at all.

Hey All, thanks for chiming in here!

I completely understand how frustrating this situation must be, so I want to assure you that this community exists to help. This topic was originally from 2024, so any recent issues are not likely going to be related to the same bug.

To start troubleshooting what’s happening, can you let me know if you're noticing the issue in the canvas, preview, or when it is published?

And have any of you checked past versions of the file to see if the photos are still appearing there as before? For reference, here's our help center article on how to View a file's version history.

@djv I’m having this issue with Figjam as well as Figma. Really really putting me in a bad position with a client — sent over a file for them to review on Friday, and on Monday they’re telling me that half the images are gone.

In the past, this has been a caching issue I can get around by clearing cache/using a differeny browser/etc.

This time, the images are literally being replaced by white-filled shapes. They’re missing for both my client’s view and my view, on multiple browsers. When I review Version History, the images are missing from all versions (show up as just a blank shape — screenshot below) —

This kind of thing is honestly totally unsustainable for Figma and really makes me wary of continuing to use the platform.
