How do I import a file with its component description ready?

When you “detach” a variant of a component and then transform that element into a new component, Figma preserves the component description data and the link to the documentation

Is there any parameter that I can declare in the file before importing it that could cause Figma to already consider a description?

I have 5397 icons that I would like to import, they all have a comment with the tags that each icon receives. I would like that when I import all the icons and turn them into components, these tags would automatically convert to a description of each component. It’s possible?

Hi there,

Thanks for the post! Unfortunately, I don’t think that feature is available at the moment. It’s definitely a challenge, but you might be able to use a plugin like this one to update descriptions for existing components:
https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1333829551986801405/batch-description-update

One more workaround would be creating your own plugin like above if you can code!

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Toku
