@dvaliao Hello! I want to return the old version. How can I do this? I don’t have the button.

Viktor_Hapala

I’m dealing with the same problem in windows on both desktop and browser - I can’t see the option to go back to older UI withing new and few years old files.

Hey @Isabel_Quiles_UOC, thanks for providing the screenshot!

As we expected, you’re using the UI3 extension for Chrome.

Your account has not been added into the UI3 beta yet, so all you need to do is remove the Chrome extension to go back to the previous UI.

Hey @Aziza1, sorry for the trouble!

As mentioned above, if you created your Figma account after June 2024, you will not see an option to “Go back to previous UI”.

Your account seems to be brand new; created in September 2024. You can check out the Help Center article here for more info.

Hey @Viktor_Hapala, sorry for the trouble!

Same as Isabel, it looks your account hasn’t been included in the UI3 rollout yet. Are you by any chance using the Chrome UI3 extension as well?

If so, all you need to do is remove the Chrome extension to go back to the previous UI.

You’re welcome, @Isabel_Quiles_UOC! 🙂

I agree about the floating panels, I find that the margins on their outer side is distracting for the eye compared to panels that go all the way to the edge.

I’d just like to add that I’ve been monitoring this topic for several months on Reddit. To date out of the hundreds of comments I’ve read about the the UI there hasn’t been not even one person who has anything good to say about it. In fact it’s been very disruptive for so many people.

Honestly Figma, what the hell are you doing? Your customer base is telling you clearly you’ve made a mistake and need to unbreak what was not broken. Thet was zero reason to “fix” it.

I’ve been in the industry for over 25 years. I’m telling you if a new tool comes along that is better than Figma and if you continue not to listen to your customer base your customers are going to jump ship and you will be redundant.

Thank you so much, I worked with the new UI for a day and I had to spend double the time I usually do for the same amount of work…

The new UI3, this concept of hover overside bars is not at all user friendly for neurodivergent users. The little view of the back with rounded corner siderbar). It triggers OCD, and problems for users with aphasia, lazy eyes and wandering eyes. Its a poorly thought out design design decision and trend followed by a lot of platforms insensitive to users with comprehension issues as well.

I want to go Go back to previous UI

I also want to go back to the previous UI. This forced update is much harder to use and I don’t appreciate the sudden roll out.

Hey All,

With the rollout of UI3 to 100% of users today, the capability to Go back to the previous UI has been added for all users.

Be sure to refresh your tabs to ensure you see the option. A good rule of thumb if you already had UI3 beta access, your panels will revert from floating to fixed.

Then, from within a Figma file, click the ? Help icon in the lower, right-hand corner > Go back to previous UI.

Thanks a bunch! The new UI was giving me a headache!

Hi dev team. I would recommend to ease in the new features to users instead of bombarding all new stuff for us at once. It would be easier to learn the new ui and embrace it if you cut it into pieces and roll in one at a time. thanks.

Adding an important note:
If you checked “Hide help UI” it is not so obvious how to change back.
Because the options are not showing up in the Figma menu “Help and account”.

I strongly suggest adding these options in the menu for users who hide the help button.

Thank you, I have successfully returned, and it has been useful for me. 🤗

Hi team, the forced UI change is impacting new users, as the documentation and tutorials are still based on the old UI. It’s also slowing down development as we need time to learn the new interface. The ‘Go back’ feature is very useful.

Hey @akiss, thanks for the feedback!

Our product education team is already hard at work trying to update all Help Center articles and YouTube Tutorials. Until then, your best resource will be our Navigating UI3: Figma’s new UI Help Center article.

Oh, thank God.

Thank you for this, this new UI was driving me mad, making my everyday job utterly frustrating, and completely slowing my workflow.

Agreed. I’m not seeing any appreciable benefits to the new UI other than they’ve added the “AI” tool (like everyone else jumping on the AI bandwagon).

There was no compelling reason to move the toolbar to a new position down below. Some features are more buried than they were before (like multi-edit), most of the right sidebar is less clear than it was before, and I’m doing a lot more scrolling in it to edit component properties etc.

Some of the right-hand bar reorg isn’t horrible, I like the Appearance grouping - that actually makes sense.

The ability to hide the left-hand UI is not new CMD/CTRL+. already did that, so that’s not too exciting either.

The new Actions tab is absolutely brutal. More keystrokes or clicks to insert components, which is really the only consistent use case for it.

I too am a UX professional of 25+ years, and a very advanced Figma user, and as much as I was excited about a new UI, this one doesn’t seem like it was well researched.

Slava_Yakovlev

Just reverted first time since launch of UI3.
My god, what a relief.

Best new feature so far!
