Question

Can't use command-Z and keyboard is set to US-Qwerty

Charles_S

Some time in the last few days, it seems I can no longer user ‘command-z’ or control-z on a mac laptop to undo an action. I looked online and found recommendations to go to help → keyboard shortcuts → Layout and make sure it’s set to US Qwerty.

It is already set to this. And when I go through the other optioons within that help section, I see no option for ‘undo’ - I’d expect to see it under ‘Edit’, but only see, copy, cut, paste, and other functions

Hi @Charles_S, Thank you for reaching out about this. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don’t work as expected.
Also, I really appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot this.

While I haven’t been able to replicate this issue myself, as you mentioned, the “Command Z” option is not appearing under the “Edit” tab. However, we have received a few reports of a similar issue, and we are already investigating it.

Would you be able to go through the troubleshooting steps for us?

  • Does this happen on the Desktop app, or does it occur on supported browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge or both?
  • Is the keyboard layout you set in Figma (US Qwerty) the same as the one you use in your system?
  • Would clearing the app or browser cache help you use Undo again?
  • If this resolves the issue, does it work for both the shortcut (command-z) and menu option (menu bar > Edit > Undo), and does the problem come back later?

Finally, if the problem continues even after clearing the cache or if it comes back later, could you kindly submit a bug report through this link: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001744374
When submitting the report, please remember to include the following details:

Thank you for your help with this troubleshooting process and your understanding!

In my case, this is on the Desktop app, and the system keyboard is also US Qwerty.

I cleared the app cache this morning, and that does seem to have resolved the issue. I can use control-z, and I can use the menu dropdown

I’ll post here if the problem returns later.
