Hey ! I want to allow a customer to view and change text in a file. The file uses components from an internal component library (design system), and even with view only access and with the Advanced Viewers can copy, share and export option turned off, the ‘customer’ can duplicate the entire component library to his drafts. Seems like a IP hole to me. I can just share prototype links, but then customer will have to screenshots. Suggestions welcome 🙂
Hi @Sean_Connolly3, Thank you so much for getting in touch with us. I totally understand where you’re coming from.
While we await potential workarounds from our community, I did a little experiment on my end regarding the “Viewers can copy, share, and export from this file” setting.
From what I’ve tested, if I share a design file with that setting turned off,
- If the recipient doesn’t have access to the library file linked to that design file, they won’t be able to access the library file of the main component located through the “Go to main component” option when selecting an instance.
- If the recipient have access to the library file and the rViewers can copy, share, and export from this file] option checked on that library file, they’ll be able to duplicate it.
“Viewers can copy, share, and export from this file” needs to be set for each file individually, so could you please double-check that customer permissions and the settings of both the design file and any connected library files? You can find a detailed guide here: Restrict copying and sharing on files
I hope this sheds a little more light on the matter. If there’s anything I might have missed please let us know.
Moreover, we’re always open to suggestions or alternative solutions from our community!
Thank you again for reaching out.
