As an Admin when inviting people in my company to join Figma, I only see a simple invite box but it has no role options. After I invite them, I see they are “pending” but cannot pre-assign them a role.

This means after I invite them, they have to send me a second request to upgrade them to contributor.

Is there a way I can simply invite them as a contributor to begin with? Or change their role when they are pending? This would save a lot of back and forth and time for them and me.

Having the ability to assign the required access levels for an invitee, including their tools (Full/Viewer for Design, FigJam, Dev Mode, and Slides), as well as workspace and billing group, would be extremely beneficial.

Hi there, Thank you for getting in touch with us about this.

While we might not be able to fulfill your request completely, you might consider adjusting the default seat type. Set default seat types

  • Enterprise or Organization plans: organization admins can set default seat types for anyone joining the organization.

  • Professional plan: team admins or owners can set default seat types for anyone joining the team.

People with a free “Viewer” seat can upgrade to a paid full seat by their own. → Manage seats in Figma

If the default seat type is set as “Viewer-restricted”, invited users will need to click “Edit file” in the toolbar to request an upgrade to the admins. → Request an upgrade to a paid seat

For the workspace and the billing group, it seems that there’s no option to adjust those settings when you invite currently.

However, this sounds like a fantastic idea for a feature request! If you’d like to see this become a reality, we encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions via Share an idea - Figma Community Forum
