Hi

I am completely lost with prototyping. No idea what I am doing wrong. The image attached is just one problem I have with it so if you could help out that would be great.

I cannot get an animation to play… at all. The process is unnecessarily complex and I can’t understand why it would have been design in such a way unless it is a bug.

I have a component I want to animate between states.

I have it in various scenarios of framed, unframed, framed as one, framed as individual and I simply cannot get the thing to play as it keeps asking for a top level.

The only way I can get it to play is if I choose a random, unrelated frame and link that first, then it will play but there is absolutely no logic to that as it is exactly the same frame set up.

Many thanks

Adam

Hi Adam! Thanks for reaching out to the community, and sharing this screenshot!

Hmm not sure on my end, it would be also great to have the prototype where you started seeing this happen on. Can you also please share a copy of your file so the community can have a look at it here?

If you can’t share the file publicly, please fill out a support ticket here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new_

(Please include your screenshot, a link to the file, invite _support-share@figma.com as an editor to your affected file. Our support team can take a look to see what’s going on.).

Option 3 from the top is the way to go. However since you added some invalid connections in other places (basically all other frames) Figma doesn’t let you open the prototype. Remove them and you should be able to run the prototype. You might also need to remove the prototype starting points in the Prototype tab in the right panel in the editor.

Hi guys, thanks for your input. I sorted it out.

I needed to press flow starting point but it would have been nice if Figma had said that. Certainly not clear on what I had to do.

All the best

Adam
