Tabs vs. Sidebar: Viewing & navigating between open files within Figma itself

I want to broach the topic that perhaps the “browser/tabbed” navigation model for managing open files may not be the best option.

I struggle with some mild ADHD - and object permanence can be a bit of a struggle. As I have more and more files open - I can no longer mentally track which tab is the right tab. I’ve noticed that with the most recent update, more explicit tooltips were added when hovering over tabs. This feels like a bandaid.

I would propose that the product team consider a way for designers to view open files in a left sidebar - similar to how teams/projects are organized in the file explorer.
