+1 …Came here to vote for this as I encountered the same problem today. Wanted to implement a fairly simple progressive disclosure pattern, and was unable to, as the items in my Autolayout form do not shift down or up when using interactive components.

Keep us posted on this on Nikolas. Super helpful.

Here I was thinking I was going crazy with nothing resizing based on the auto layout. Is there any update on this? It would make variants SO much more useful.

Dmitry_Shkaev

+1 Same here, was expecting it to work with expanding some dropdowns that would push the rest of the content down, but it still doesn’t work like this.

Same issue here with my textfield component when it’s in typing state. the cursor’s position will return to its position as set in component.

Nudging it that little bit higher ☝️☝️

+1 for “Get it done” 👍 Looking forward to it!

Peyi_Oyelo

+1 Adding Auto layout support would make interactive components super powerful. Just an additional nudge.

That’s the main feature missing in our prototypes, I definitely vote for it!!

Any update on this? I have a similar situation.

I’ve got buttons like this that are next to one another in a row. When you hover over one, it expands with the text (interactive component variant) AND it should push the one on the right to the side to make room for it. They are in an autolayout.

I have tried this numerous ways and I think the problem is this idea.

+1 🥲

I have had a similar issue with a collapsing menu, where I thought I could create the individual rows then rig them up using auto layout. turns out to get the desired effect I had to create the menu as a separate component with all the items able to expand and collpase. then import the component into my prototype / wireframe

Hello FigMates,

I encounter a bug while working with auto layout and interactive component. As you can see I created an interactive accordion using Auto Layout.

However, when I open the prototype the whole container does not adapt while clicking. Here is the demo video.

Thank you 😃

Any news on this subject? I see that it has been an issue/feature request for a while and it was on top priority.

Jamie_McLean

When a component has a variant of a different size, that change affects auto-layout on the design canvas but not in the prototype. This makes interactive variants only practically work for variants of exactly the same size.

Harsha_Vardhan

+1 for this. Hoping to see this in live soon!

This is one of the first issues I’ve encountered in the Beta, and it feels fairly crucial. Was the initial design just meant to handle variants that are always the exact same size? (…and not accommodate for text changes in components?)

I’m ecstatic to know this feature is being proactively worked upon!

In a prototype, I want to:

  1. Click a text line that says: “Advanced Options”.
  2. Once clicked, I want a form to appear below the line (expanding).
  3. Existing page content that would overlap with the form should move down in order to accommodate the form’s size.
  4. The page length should expand down to fit the page’s content including the newly added form.
  5. When I click on “Advanced Options” again, I want the form to disappear (collapse) back to its original state.

+1 for this. Trying to make an accordion sidebar navigation column (auto-layout vertical), comprised of nested accordion components. The parent accordion auto-layout doesn’t honor the changing size of the child accordions even though the parent auto-layout container is set to “hug” vertically.

Karen_Simpson

Another +1 for this. It’s fairly fundamental, to so many prototypes, to be able to use auto layout with interactive components. Both things are great in isolation but they really need to work together asap 🙏

I created a checkbox placed it in autolayout, that checkbox had two variants, when checkbox is active the component will show an input box and vice versa, now when i use component interaction the autolayout does not adapt to the height of the checkbox comp, I am using hug content but still no change.

Aleksandr_Kolesnikov

This will be a huuuuge feature and I can’t wait for it. You got this, team!
