Describe the problem your experiencing and how your idea helps solve this
When searching for an asset in Figma, dropdown for example, it’s very hard to tell which is from the library you want to take from. We have a native mobile library, a web library, and another for the old design system, it’s very hard to drag the right asset from the library you want to use. There’s no filter to refine the results.
Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)
Ask questions to bring the community into the conversation
(e.g. Does anyone else experience this? Is anyone using a plugin or workaround to help solve this?, etc.
This is exactly my problem as well. Has anyone found a work around?
This is also really frustrating for me and my team. We’re migrating from old libraries into a new global design system, but folks are accidentally grabbing components from old libraries (which need to be enabled in this in-between phase) thinking they’re part of the new system because it’s not clear which library a search result is from.
The search results already show some information on hover (component name and description), but it would be helpful to show the source library on hover or even prior to interacting with the result.
Searching from the right panel in “Swap Instance” handles multiple libraries better, but would love to see improvements on this more broadly!
Sorting components in the assets panel by library would be HUGELY beneficial. Similarly, our design system team has libraries for web and app and it is not obvious which library components are being pulled from.
When I search a component in Figma panel it’s impossible recognise which library come from
We have libraries for mobile and desktop and components are similar
Would be nice to add the possibility to know which library does it belong to
Before I search in the Assets panel, I can see the libraries I included but after search, the libraries’ names are gone.
The problem is when we collaborate with multiple libraries, people may have components with the same names. It is hard to find the one I need sometimes. So it would be nice if we could keep the library names (or toggle on and off) after I search in the Assets panel.
Yea, I have the same issue here. Before search, I can see the libraries but after search, it’s gone 😑
I’m having the same issue too; I use the search feature to find a component I want to place rather than dig through the layers of library/component trees listed in the main Asset panel view.
However, the results displayed include all components from all libraries with know reference to which library a component is from. I would expect at minimum mousing over a component would show the library it was from and its name OR (prefered) that the results would be organized by library (use bold text for a Library name then list all search results from that library before adding another library result section). You could add icons to collapse and expand library results or quick filters to select the library you want to search (similar to how the main view works).
I know you can use the “library” / book icon to turn libraries on and off, however this is several clicks and is a bit annoying to do. I would prefer the feature to be on screen within the asset panel as a one time filter.
I have exactly the same issue. could also be good to see the search results in the Assets panel divided according to the library the results are in, does anyone know a plugin? (Show categories se search results according to the library). With this I can also know if it is a local component or part of a library.

Hey All,
Today, we launched the ability to Filter results in the assets panel! 🎉
You can now filter assets by a specific library file, recently viewed, default libraries, and more.
