As a user I want to lock the guides so that I dont accidently select or move them
This is especially important when zoomed out and all io seem to be selecting is guides, yet I want to select elements of the design.
Why is no one talking about guides here? when I search guides nothing comes up…or is search here just not great.
That’s a great demerit while designing in Figma. I love to design in Figma but some simple updation require in the locking guides or rules which are similar in illustrator which have a locking option while right clicking the workspace.
I see the merits of grids over guides, but sometimes they do come in handy, and if you have a lot going on it would be useful to lock them in place.
It would be helpful to many users switching over from Illustrator where guides are used a lot more

Theres a big curve to learn figma coming from sketch, but… not having a lock to the guides? seriously??? so every time a i have to align something i have to have those big colums in the file? i cant express how bad this is, seriously
If you set gutter to 0 columns turn into lines.
There is a video or an article about align things in figma? also, i need information on how to organize files and all that, now i have a lot of file in draft and its a little messy, other than having a premium account, if theres any.

There are lots of good videos on the Figma’s YouTube channel. I don’t remember if there is anything specific on the topics you mentioned but this would be the first place I’d search.
yup… still should have lockable guides. dont care why they dont exist! should be here!
Probably, we need to request that option. Make me feel angry when I accidentally catch them…
For some designs we need to use a layout grid instead but, there are also cases in which we use rulers, like when I design a Fibonacci layout grid or other customized grid I need to use rulers. Another case is when I want to design a simple poster I just need a single ruler on both sides I literally never go to grid layout and type everything to set a layout grid which is time-wasting in some cases.
