I am someone who uses both Dev mode and design mode. I sit between design team and dev team. When my designers have any questions or if i need quick edits to be done I use the design mode to them… and I use dev mode when I am coding and also when my devs ask any questions or clarifications… And when I switch modes and hide the UI, I am totally unaware of which mode I am in.

Also my time in Figma is always interuppted with emails, task managment etc. So I do certain things and when I come back to edit the designs, I wont be able to make any edits because Figma is in dev mode and the UI is hidden 🙂 Then I had to reload or something and then realise I might be on dev mode and then switch again with show/hide UI and then go back to editing.

I feel the switch for design to dev mode need to be one level up and not in the UI that gets hidden. So it is persistent irrespective of which mode you are in.

I have come across an existing post here that also suggests a similar concept to the one you described. Therefore, I will merge your post with theirs to gather all the similar feedback in one place, which will help bring more attention to it.

Your input is valuable, and I’m grateful for you sharing your thoughts with us.
