Question

Figma Slides edit mode suddenly locked for non-academic users

Mushon

I have chosen Figma Slides for a project involving academia and municipality partners knowing that Edit Mode is would not be restricted, that’s why we chose the platform. We have been collaborating on it but yesterday the non-academic accounts have been locked out of edit mode and the whole project has been frozen a few days before presentation. Please help…

Hi @Mushon, Thank you for contacting us.

To confirm, is the Figma slide deck you're referring to located within your Education team?

If you invited individuals to edit the slide deck within your Education team prior to their education status verification, they will have a seven-day grace period to complete the verification process. Following this period, they must verify their education status to maintain access to the files.

Please refer to section "4. Invite others to your team" in our Verify education status guide.

Hope this clarifies. Thanks again for reaching out!

Thanks for the clarification explains a lot. I would however mention that conditioning Figma Slides edit access in an educational account has not been clearly communicated. I would have not transitioned the team from Google Slides to Figma Slides had I known of this restriction as while most partners in the project can set up educational accounts, this constraint will keep some of my colleagues unable to enter edit mode.
I know Figma Slides is a new product and mistakes like that may happen, but as a user this is frustrating. Would you recommend I transition back to Google Slides? Or is there a simpler way to solve this at this point?
