I’ve lost access to a file while switching the accounts. Now tapping “send request” doesn’t help anyhow. There is no request in any of the two emails even though I have access to both of the accounts.
Hey @Ekaterina_Seliverstova, thanks for reaching out! I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with file access—let’s try to sort this out.
First, can you confirm if you originally had “can edit” access to the file or if you were the owner of it? Only those with “can edit” permissions or the file owner can approve or deny access requests. If you were the owner or had edit access, it should be easier to regain access.
If you can find the URL of the file, that would be really helpful. With the file URL, I can look into the file details and check who the current owner is.
If the file owner has removed your access, you might not receive the request email. In that case, it’s best to reach out to the file owner directly to request permission again.
Let me know if you have the file URL or if you need further assistance!
Hi @Gayani_S
your colleague has already contacted me and the issue is solved, thanks
Hey @Ekaterina_Seliverstova, thanks for the update!
I’ve reviewed your ticket, and I’ll share the outcome here for the benefit of other community members who might encounter a similar issue:
The outcome of this support ticket is that when the user’s email was removed from the Organization by an Org Admin, the file they created remained within the organization’s control. This happens because files created under the organization’s domain are considered owned by the organization itself.
As a result, the files that were in their drafts are put to a ‘Shared projects’ area. This area is specifically for files that belonged to members who have been removed from the organization. The file remains inaccessible to others until the Org Admin transfers it into an active team. Once the file is moved to a team, it becomes interactive, and ownership can then be assigned to someone already involved with the file.
The recommended action is for the user to contact their Org Admin, who can follow the guide on managing shared projects to move the file into a team, enabling others to access and work with it.
Hi Gayani, thank you for notifying me. The only thing that’s still unclear is how the organisation project connected with my 1st email appeared in my 2nd account. Is it because I might have opened the 1st file from the 2nd account (let’s say having just the 1st file tab open and logging into my 2nd account in the neighbouring tab)?
Hey @Ekaterina_Seliverstova, I was unsure here but I’ve just double-checked this with the support advisor who processed your support ticket and they’ve confirmed that you’ve likely opened the first file with your second account.
Hope this help, if you’ve further questions feel free to reach out to me!
