Question

Locate and delete lingering used variables

My file has “used variables” which no longer exist lingering around somewhere. No idea what assets could possibly still have these old/deleted variables still connected to them. I have tried the detach deleted variables command already but no luck. Is there any way to locate where these variables are being used without going through each layer one by one? Is this just a bug?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and our apology for the late response!

Could you try “Detach deleted variables” via actions?

If you still see the issue, Could you try the troubleshooting below?

  • Close any Figma tabs you’re not using
  • Browser : Force-quit and open Figma in a new browser window.
  • Desktop App: Force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it. If the issue persists, try clearing the cache.

If it still exists, please submit a bug report detailing the steps that led to this issue. You can do so by following the link: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041468234-Submit-a-bug-report

I hope this helps!

Thanks,
Toku
