When our team upload numerous images in the same page for research, image load speed getting slower, then not showing. If I click the image, then shows up slowly. I understand that large numbers of image cause this issue but it’s essential to collaborate within the team. Are there any ways to fix it in the system, or just internet problem?
Are you using Figma or FigJam? The latter is more suitable for such activities, but if your FigJam is giving issues, may be support team will help out on this.
I’m using Figma for it. So you mean if I use FigJam, I can get much better improvement in image loading speed, right?
Hey @hb.lee, sorry for the trouble!
Figma only downloads high quality (larger than 512 by 512 pixels) versions of images in your current viewport. For images outside your current view, Figma loads a lower quality version to improve performance when you first load a file.
Because of this, when you have a lot of high-resolution images in a file, your images may look blurry at first then will load the high-resolution images as you continue to explore the file.
To help speed things up, you can try the following:
- Close and reopen the affected file
- Close any other Figma files you have open
- Check your internet speed and connection to make sure your device is online
- Using Figma in the browser: quit your internet browser application, then relaunch it.
- Using the desktop app: right-click on the file’s tab and select Reload Tab.
Thank you for reply @dvailao.
Is there any total maximum file size (mb, gb…etc) that cause this issue? of for the seamless usage of Figma?
Because If it is, then I could control the total file size in the page.
You’re welcome, @hb.lee!
There isn’t an exact number, but keep in mind that since Figma is browser based. It has an active memory limit of ~2GB per browser tab, so Figma loads pages and layers in a file only as needed to help keep memory usage as low as possible.
I see what you mentioned about memory limitations.
It actually slows down the upload, but if you click on it or close and reopen it, it will eventually show up. So what’s wrong with an image that won’t display forever when you click on it?
The most common reasons that images fail to load are if your device is experiencing a limited internet connection or is offline, or a browser extension, such as an ad blocker, is prevent images from loading.

Thanks @dvaliao,
Is the 2GB limit per browser in Figma based on the page, file, or viewport?
Plus, if we’re using Figma desktop app, not on the browser, still be affected that 2GB limitation?
It’s an active memory limit of 2GB per file/browser tab. And since Figma was built on browser-based technologies, the limitations still apply even when you’re using the desktop app.
Then, the size of images and media in whole files (regardless how it spreads around the pages in the file) exceed 2GB, it causes degradation of loading speed, right?
Yes, that is correct.
Thank you @dvaliao, It was really helpful for our team.
You’re welcome, @hb.lee! Happy that I could help explain.
