The font size is completely wrong. The font size on the sreenshot is 40, the quotation mark even a 100. which cant be as the diusplayed size would normaly be a 7.
I also noticed this when trying to make pdfs for a specific file size, with a known font size, the font size looked nothing like my reference pdf on Figma.
Welcome to Figma! The issue you’re facing with font sizes in Figma is likely due to a mismatch between the pixel units used by Figma and the millimeter units of your A4 canvas.
In Figma, the default unit of measurement is pixels (px), not millimeters (mm). This can make the font size appear much larger than you’d expect when designing for print.
Here’s how you can fix or adjust this:
Steps to Adjust Font Size for Print:
Use Points (pt) for Print Designs:
For print designs like an A4 canvas, it’s better to use points (pt) rather than pixels (px) because point sizes are more commonly used in print layouts.
Unfortunately, Figma doesn’t directly support points, but you can still calculate the correct size based on your requirements.
Set the Correct DPI for Print:
Print design typically uses 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) for high-quality printing.
Figma works at 72 DPI, which means your design may appear larger than it would when printed.
To match print size, you need to scale down your font sizes by a factor of about 4.17. For example, if a font size is 40px in Figma, divide it by 4.17, which gives you approximately 9.6pt.
Convert to Pixels for Figma:
If you know the font size you want in points, multiply it by 4.17 to get the corresponding pixel size in Figma.
Example: A 12pt font for print would be approximately 50px in Figma (12pt × 4.17).
Test with Print Output:
After adjusting the sizes, you can export the design as a PDF and print a test copy to ensure the fonts appear at the correct size.
Conclusion:
For a smoother experience, remember that Figma uses px by default, so converting to points or printing settings is necessary.
You can experiment with scaling down the font size to fit your A4 layout and adjust it based on print needs.
