Figma released a new update and now drafts are moved to teams? I’m not in a team what happened to my drafts and designs?
Hey @alex_busan, thanks for reaching out and sorry for the confusion!
Any drafts you own that aren’t attached to a team will be available in the “Drafts to move” space in the sidebar.
If you’re not a member of any teams, you can create a free Starter team, which also has its own drafts space, that you can move your personal drafts into. Like drafts today, you can have unlimited files in this space.
I recommend reviewing our Help Center article Updates to how drafts work for more information on this!
Please revert this change. It is confusing. I am a person, not a team.
@dvaliao This is the worst update you’ve released so far. It’s critical for me. Dozens of projects have been thrown into one main view, without retaining the old structure with the sidebar on the left. The organized structure of clients and their projects is completely messed up. The sidebar only has Starred, and to utilize the sidebar, all projects must be starred. Managing projects is now worse than it was, and it was already unusable.
So what does this mean?
Am I going to start getting for extra paid seats added if someone accidentally makes an edit to a draft that I have happened to share at some point?
Hey there you’ll be able to manage the settings as an admin/owner of the team. You can even change the default setting to be viewer-restricted by default by following the steps outlined here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039960434-Manage-seats-in-Figma#h_01HT31X2HAS52WPBZXAZ2BGVJY
Sweet as, thanks Josh!
This is by far the worst update so far. A clear attempt to avoid multiple people editing a single file in drafts without paying as part of a team. And disguised as “we are doing a favor to users”.
The structure of projects I had done for my “Team-of-1” is now under this “starred” tab. And all the projects view is on the right. Organization for projects and files inside a team was already bad. Now is terrible. I was already paying just to be able to organize my projects, and now it sucks.
This is getting every day more similar to Adobe.
Hey @dvaliao, I am not able to see “drafts to move” in the sidebar…there is only drafts and I can’t move the files to any team from there, even i create a new team.
I am not sure what is the problem, please help me out as downloading files and then importing them to my projects is a very tedious task.
Here is the screenshot for it
Hey @Parth_K, sorry for the confusion!
If you don’t have any Drafts to move in your left sidebar, all of your drafts likely already exist within a team. It looks like you’re on an Org plan, so please note that these new changes only affect Starter and Professional plans. When creating a new draft just be sure that you’re creating it from within the Team and/or Project that you want it to exist.
If you have any further questions, please reach out to the support team directly via this form for help: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hey @dvaliao, I am not using an Org plan.
I am using a starter plan and after the update (v. 124.1.11) I don’t see a “drafts to move” option. From the “drafts” I can’t move them anywhere; to the starter team I already had or any new team that I create.
I get the following error msg.
So I am not sure how can I move them to my team/project.
Thanks for the additional context, @Parth_K!
I’ve confirmed that the support team received your previous request on ticket #1035304. I’ve passed on everything we’ve discussed here on a new ticket #1036195, and someone from support will review and be in touch as soon as they’re available.
That’s great, Thanks @dvaliao!
Hey @dvaliao,
I have exactly the same problem (still the old sidebar + can’t move drafts anymore), but I have a professional plan.
Hey @Manuell, sorry for the trouble!
It looks like Nancy is already helping you out on ticket #1037196. The support team will continue to help you via email.
Yeah this is one of the most annoying, confusing and illogical updates of all time. Having a sidebar section called “Your Teams” with drafts within that, then another “Teams” section below with “{{yourName}}'s Team”, and then when you bring in practice files with paid features you have to move them out of drafts and into your personal “Team” space in order to use paid features… I pay already so whether the file is in my drafts or team space I should be able to use paid features. Idiotic.
