Components not updating correctly!

Another day, another bug in Figma! 20 billion well spent adobe…Now my component’s which are in linked library’s are not updating correctly. I literally have to go into each component, make a edit by selecting another component state, and then Figma will pop up saying theres an update for this component - i select update ALL as i usually do, but its only updating the selected instance of the component. all other versions of the same component in the same page are not being update until I select them and do the same thing! what is this? what am i paying for? Frustration? a 2gb limit which make creating even a simple flow almost impossible? the limits of this thing are becoming as increasingly problematic as the bugs. Please fix it, also stop double charging for edits, when they are different teams, one person can only make one set of edits at one given time! criminal

Hi @Jamie_Wooster sorry to hear this is happening!

It looks like we need to investigate this further can you please reach out to the support team directly via this form for help: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Be sure to use your Figma account email, share a short video showing the issue you are seeing, include the links to your file and the library file, and share it with support-share@figma.com so they can take a closer look.

It’s becoming a big mess on large-scale projects where it’s impossible to dive into each component separately. Please fix it!!

I totally agree with this.
I work on big projects only.
All made up as follows:

  • Libraries
    • Visual assets: icons, pictos, illustrations
    • UI kit: foundation, components and sections
  • Project file per year: all user flows, sprints, etc.

I go back and forth between them all the time.
I’m constantly publishing, so I’m constantly updating.

I must be confident with the tool on which my work is based!
It’s complex enough as it is to manage dozens of large design systems with unfinished variables capabilities. It’s not possible to check that components are correctly updated.

It’s been at least 2 weeks now and there isn’t an update on this issue. Yet the forum is filled with variations of the same issue spanning at least 8 months.

This is such a horrible user experience that words fail to convey how frustrating and painful it is to use Figma.

For the love of all that is holy: FOCUS ON FIXING KEY FEATURES INSTEAD OF LAUNCHING NEW FEATURES that aren’t critical.

The ability to propagate changes to child instances is so much more critical than any of the new features/changes announced during Config 2023.

I promise you NO ONE CARES ABOUT AI integration (except your devs and product managers) - actual working designers just want to be able to make changes without tearing our hair out.

Hey, we hear you and understand your frustration! We’re currently investigating individual cases, that’s why we are asking the users to file a support ticket. Apologies for the inconvenience! I can see your case is being investigated by our technical quality team.

Hey Figma!
I have the same issue at the moment. Its a pain to not have updates within the components. It costs us more hours to update our design system at the moment. Is there any progress on this topic? Do you need more input?

Same issue here! please fix the components not updating properly! its taking so much time manually checking updates. Please!

Hey @Benjamin_Lenz and @Roland_Andrei_Cristi , apologies for the issues!

Please reach out directly to the support team by filling this form here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new 1. Our technical quality team can take a look at this issue. So we can be sure we’re checking the steps needed to repro this correctly, I’d appreciate if you can make me a short video showing what you’re seeing. In the video it’s helpful for us to see the whole window, with the Properties and Layers Panel in view.

Please also provide a direct link to the file, and invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission so they can look into this further. Note that users with @figma.com emails on your team do not count towards your billing.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Thanks in advance!

Months later, same issue, the thing is we are a bank, so give access to our files does not look that reasonable. Is there any other way to dig into that?

Hey @Alexander_Albuquerque, sorry to hear that you’re still having issues!

I’ve reached out to the team internally to double check if there is another way to investigate this, as you’ve mentioned you are not able to share your file link with us. I’ll get back to you once I get more information on this.

Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

I don’t see a solution to this and am experiencing the same issue. See linked video for example: https://youtu.be/v5wj5DOSsYE

Master components are kept in a separate Figma file and shared to the appropriate working file. When updates are made to a component and the library is updated the linked assets show up correctly, but the existing component instances throughout the file do not update.

Please help with a solution. Working on large projects and unfortunately cannot build assets that scale.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I’ve created a design system in a separate file and am using it in another Figma file. However, when I publish a new component in the design system file, it doesn’t reflect in the other file. I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve updated Figma and restarted the app multiple times, but the issue persists.

Hey @Glenn6, thank you so much for sharing a screen recording with us!

Please share a file link with the team, and invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission so we can look into this further? Note that users with @figma.com emails on your team do not count towards your billing.

Our support team usually takes up to 24 hours to reply back to emails - tends to be quicker than that in normal circumstances. However, please be aware that we are facing increased contact volume so there might be a delay

Thanks @Gayani_S I’ve shared the two files. They are separate files I created specifically to address this issue.

Hey @Glenn6, I took a look at your ticket and I did not see that you shared the file links per email, but I can do this for you as an internal note for the team. Also, our support team sent you a reply on Monday, can you please have a look when you have a moment?

Thanks,
Gayani

Thank your for your help. Figma support was able to help me understand the step I was missing in my process. I updated the assets file, but did not accept the updates on the working file.

Here is the response that fixed my issues: "It appears that you did not accept the updates available on the subscribed file, indicated by the blue dot on the library icon on the top right corner:

Could you please click on this icon, go to the Updates tab, and accept all updates to the file?"
