Question

Can't unpublish a library

Pablo_Garcia_Roca

Hello folks,

I need help unpublishing a library. I followed all the steps listed on the help page, yet I can still see that file with the gray icon instead of blue (meaning it’s still a library), and when I hit on “Libraries” in any file, I can still see it there and enable it.

I think it’s a bug because I follow the steps and things works as supposed, but once unpublished nothing changes in the UI (not even quitting and re-opening Figma again):

  • I open the file that was published as a library
  • I click on “Assets” and on the “Library” icon (book)
  • I click on the current file
  • I click on “Unpublish”
  • It throws a double confirmation modal where I click on “Remove”
  • I get a “Successfuly unpublished library”
  • Nothing changed 🤷

It still appears in the Libraries modal in any other file and is still available for enabling it. Plus, as I said earlier, the file icon won’t revert to blue instead of gray.

Is anybody else having the same issue? (BTW: Using Figma’s MacOS app)

Hey Pablo, sorry to hear this is happening!

This definitely seems odd and looks like a bug that our engineering team is currently investigating.

If this is still happening, please reach out to the support team directly via this form for help: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Be sure to use your Figma account email, share a video recording of the issue, include the links to the file, and share it with support-share@figma.com so they can take a closer look. Thank you!

Same issue ✌️

Paul_Morley

I seem to have a variation of this problem. I have successfully unpublished a library design file. The icon no longer shows as a black (library) icon on the file itself however when I open the file, then select the drop down for the file name in the top middle, I still see the ‘Library analytics’ and ‘Published and up to date’ menu items.

And when I create any new design file, this particular library always shows up in the list of libraries. In addition, we have the Organization version of Figma and I have full admin rights to the Org and this library file is NOT listed under the Resources>Libraries tab of the Admin Settings screen.

Same here!
I unpublish a library, and most of it is gone, only some components remain, and I cannot figure out why

Hey @Victor_Janin1, sorry for the issues! I am not sure if this is related to a previous bug we had but it’s best to investigate here on your file.

Please reach out to our support team via this form ( https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001731233) with a file link, and invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission so we they look into this further? Note that users with @figma.com emails on your team do not count towards your billing.

Also, let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Gayani

@Victor_Janin1 - I am only guessing, but do you have any instances of the components in your file? Maybe that could be a reason why they have not yet disappeared?

I have a similar problem. I have imported Sketch files to Figma. Some of them were Sketch libraries and even though they have not been published as libraries in Figma it seems the components within are still exposed.

I believe the problem appeared with the recent updates to Draft and I solved it by moving all the imported files into my Drafts. However, how my team members do not have access to them.

Same issue here. Unpublishing is not working but i get a successful message.

Elise_Laberge

I had the same issue and I fixed it by deleting the (2) components that seemed to be triggering the bug and then publishing the 2 removed components. That automatically removed my file as a library and then I just restored the components.
