Question

Can't locate faulty ghost Variable

Shannon8

I have set up Collection for 100+ variables. I want to export it, so I can use it elsewhere (I just need this specific collection, not the other collections nor the components within this file, so sharing the library wouldn’t solve my case).

However, when starting import/export plugins, I seem to get the following error. I guess I have a faulty ghost variable in there somewhere. Is there a way to locate it without having to redo the entire library?

Hey Shannon,
Thanks for reaching out to the community.
Can you try first to use the quick command: Detach deleted variables to quickly get rid of any existing ghost variables?

If this doesn’t help, I’d suggest you to reach out directly to the support team with a copy of the prototype you’re working on so the team can review it if that’s possible.
Please file a ticket here, and share edit access to the prototype with support-share@figma.com (if you are able). Thank you!

Detach deleted variables does not work whatsoever. The Ghost variable issue is a massive problem that Figma desperately need to fix.
