Bootstrap 5 components

Hi there, im still getting my head around Figma.

I took the bootstrap 5 ui kit and made a new website mockup using the components. I then ran into a bunch of glitches with the navigation and wanted to start from scratch to see if it would fix the issue. I ended up deleting the two pages ‘navbar’ and ‘navs & tabs’ hoping I could go back to the original file and just copy them back over, but now everything child down is not connected and i’m stuck on fixing the issue…

could someone explain in detail how the publishing works and how I can try relink those components back into my file without breaking all these links?

To clarify what I tried:

I deleted original components and the pages: navbar, navs & tabs

I then opened up the original file again: https://www.figma.com/community/file/1044316192441037087

and ‘cut’ all the components from those same pages into new pages named the same.

I then ‘published’ all those components.

That seemed to work, until I kept drilling down and the last missing nested components were the ‘typography’ elements.

I’m afraid to delete those and re-link as they are obviously used throughout the rest of the components.

what a nightmare :weary:

Hi there,

Sorry to hear what’s happening in your file. Have you tried “Repair component connections” or “Relink instances to local component”? You can do these actions via quick actions:

  • Mac: ⌘ Command / or ⌘ Command P
  • Windows: Control + / or Control + P

repair-connections

I hope this will work but if it doesn’t, you may be able to find a plugin to help you relink components.

Thanks,
Toku

I gave this a try, but got ‘nothing to repair’ on all three options. I’ve just been relinking as I go for now. But not ideal if I ever need to hand off to another deisgner.
