In every iPad app I can think of with canvas navigation you pan / zoom with two fingers and select/select box with one. FigJam is the only app that doesn’t act like this.
What’s more is that after selecting, it switches back to pan. Unless I specifically keep this in mind I am constantly confused what my index finger is going to do.
Here’s what I would suggest:
Option 1 (the Affinity Designer method)
- Pan and zoom with two fingers, select with one.
- Select multiple by drawing a box.
Option 2 (The Apple Freeform method)
- Select and pan with a single finger
- Tap and hold to start a selection box
For pencil users include the option to only select with the Apple Pencil and only pan with the finger. This would make the pencil workflow extremely fast.
