One option that could be useful is to allow modifying the decoration of a text that has already been defined as a text style, because that way you do not have to create two or more text styles to simply add the decoration. As with alignment, it could be added below. thanks

I would love to have this as a new feature that sort of works the other way around: link applied to text style, but prevent the underline from overriding the text style every time the link is edited.

This! 👍

just wanted to post this myself, but I was sure that it had to be discussed before, and here we are.

sad to see how old this topic is :-/

It would REALLY help a lot - and should be an rather small fix I think, so please you lovely Figma people - help us clean up our Font styles!

Really need this! 🙏

Really need this!

This would really help cleaning up the text styles in a design system

+1 on this. Being able to apply text decoration, weight etc… without detaching the style would save having to create a text style for every instance and would help with dev also.

Still waiting for this

Yep… still waiting

Yep… Here also waiting.

Oh sheesh y’all.

This is redincedonkey!

I just want to apply italics to text with a style applied 🥲

The underline decoration knows how to break and skip letters that are longer than the text baseline. Using a Auto-layout won’t do that and cover the letters

We need this, it’s absurd this feature is missing. Having to define as styles all the possible decorations adds so much clutter.

I already have 6 headings, each with its own styles (light, regular, medium), then 6 paragraphs (body) for the two typefaces the design uses, again, each one with other 3 variations based on size, and then some other more for the style, and then what…for each of these I should add one more with link?

please Figma, listen and add this feature. we have been waiting for this for years already.

+1 Please add this QoL feature.

Figma, text-decoration-color: when??

+1 Please add this feature!

It’d be good to at least hear the reasoning behind why is this still not possible.

+1 on this. I often want to use superscript and have to detach the text style for that. Or if I want to add a link (underline) in running text I also have to detach the text style.

To me the definable text styles should be font face and size (cannot be overridden) and in the style definition it should be configurable which other properties can be modified. For example we can already modify alignment and we can make lists - why can’t we also (if allowed by the style definition) modify text decoration and super/subscript?

+1 Please add this feature!

+1 I need to add superscript to a text style without detaching it.

+1 still waiting for this feature. I need to edit text underlines, not just borderlines.

Hi! I’ve created a plugin Underline It. It can add underlines to text styles without detaching the style.

+1 need this! Please add underlines as style overrides, just like is already possible with e.g. list style and truncation.

We need this!!! 😩
