This would be really helpful to be open to guest collaborators. We are on a professional plan and have tried to use Figma for brainstorming sessions or workshops that involve outside collaborators - these collaborators only need access to one file for a limited amount of time, and currently with both FigJam and Figma it’s not possible to do so without adding another editor. We’ve had great feedback from those that we have done sessions with and we would love to have some possibility of adding guest passes for outside collaborators that allow them to view and edit a file, without needing to add them as an editor and allow them to access other project files and such.
For us, having account-less external guests are the priority. We can usually get internal folks setup with an account if needed and they are more likely to use it >1 time. Knowing who they are isn’t essential — we don’t know in Miro, and result to some “put your initials here” workarounds — but would be an advantage.
Also, having this for educational workshops would be awesome. Right now I’m using Miro with students so they don’t have to create an account for a few exercises. But if we could have it working in FigJam, I’d make the switch without thinking twice 🙂
For us, external guests are a priority.
Seems like a major bug but with the lack of resolution so far it’s feeling more like a conscious decision. Hopefully, it being one of the most voted and viewed topic gets it addressed sooner than later.
For us, it’s mostly external guests. We use FigJam for brainstorming/feedback sessions with existing customers as well as visioncasting/implementation planning sessions with prospective customers.
This is a deal-breaker to make FigJam a go-to cross-functional collaboration tool. Forcing users to create an account for a 1-time workshop is very frustrating and stunts the ability for adoption across the org.
On the creator/owner side, setting your share setting to “anyone with the link - can edit” and having that not be true also feels very untransparent and an unfortunate practice to see from a design company. I haven’t had a complaint to date, but this one is crossing a nerve - really hope to see this happen!
Chiming in to agree that this is vital functionality needed for workshop sessions in FigJam. I also work primarily with external guests.
Another interesting bug is that some of my clients’ company security systems affect the account creation process from inbox, resulting in failed account creation.
We attempted to get around this issue by giving them the direct link to our FigJam file (even if it’s view only) and have other editors transcribe for them. However, after failing account creation through email, they are taken to a log-in page (triggering their security) and disabling all inputs. They see this communication as a small toast message in the upper righthand corner, which prevents them from interacting with the login fields.
Our only option was to screenshare one user’s view through zoom and transcribe notes they would type in in chat. Not a great experience, and those external contributors can’t access the file at all.
We’ll have to move our progress into a Miro space in the short term unfortunately.
We use Miro internally a lot for group meetings. Yesterday Miro was down during a workshop and it was an opportunity to try out Figjam with a bigger audience. I’ve quickly created a board and shared a link, but guest participants could not have edit rights. It was really annoying, we wasted time and eventually had to come up with a different solution. I hope you can fix the access rights and allow guests to edit on Figjam.
+1 same here. Our pro subscription with Miro will expire soon, having guest/non-designer/outsider free access feature it’s mandatory for us to.
; )
This guest sign-in feature is essential because many of the people we use to collaborate in our workshops aren’t designers and don’t necessarily want to sign-up for an account. It is forcing us to go back to Miro despite FigJam having a more audience-friendly user interface. Please make this a feature ASAP.
For me it would be internal guests
+1 Absolutely essential functionality for us here also! Highly requested!

We need to invite participants that don’t have a Figma account.
Yes please!! Need the ability to add editors without login. As others have stated, most collaborators only need access for an hour or so, not long term.
This is a must-have for us.
- 1: wanted to use figjam for one off white-boarding with company on culture but would want to do this with guests / anonymous
+1 currently we have to grant guests edit permissions which leads to issues like they being able to share a FigJam-Board with the community. This can lead to serious information security issues.
It would be highly appreciated to have some sort of workshop participant rule, which can contribute (e.g. use all the features in the bottom tool bar in FigJam like sticky notes), but cannot share the board.
However, the users should not be anonymous.
I work for BT Group (British Telecommunications) and not being able to add external partners/clients guest access to FigJam, who are not designers but decision-makers within large corporations is a major blocker for us.
We are on Figma Organisation plan and the guest access for FigJam just to participate in workshops is a major issue, especially when I’m trying to get BT to buy into FigJam (Which I personally prefer using) and move away from Mural & Miro.
Are there any current plans to implement guest passes without login for outside collaborators?
Collaborators for Jams is critical - I’ve to keep re-opening jam files so that team collaborators can add comments or respond to the topic of the jam.
To be clear those team members aren’t editing the Jam just needing answering questions outside of the 24 hour window. Not a huge fan of the timed window because there’s always someone who wants or needs to respond outside that window.
We are trying to use those Jams as shared singular points of reference for some collaborative efforts.
Ideally we should have an option to set as guest user with some basic contributor style permissions - add text comments stick notes etc
Lastly most of my time on the admin side is addressing this issue. Having said all that we are really loving it as a white boarding tool.
Are there any updates on this? This is a critical feature – how do folks deal with design candidates during a design hiring process and provisioning access to Figma / FigJam to them without them becoming a part of the org and paying a monthly fee for their access?
Still waiting for this to happen. I had used FigJam before, but quit my subscription and went with Miro and Markup instead because of the guest collaborator issue.
I’m a freelancer and I need my clients to be able to collaborate on projects. Right now I am throwing money at two other companies but I would love to use Figma and FigJam exclusively. I would even be willing to pay more than 3 bucks for a single seat. Because guest collaboration would add SO MUCH VALUE to my workflow.
Just bumping this thread because the fact that this isn’t available has caused me to immediately decide against using FigJam for my purposes. The whole point of the whiteboard I want to make is to allow students to anonymously post questions and responses to the space. This was something I could do easily with Google JamBoard.
This needs more votes. It is definitely a must-have for a collaborative board. I want stakeholders to join and collaborate for 1 hour, without asking them to pay an account. It is something Miro and Mural allow to do, even Google Jamboard.
@Mario_Badilla definitely agree this needs more votes! I am wondering if we need to increase visibility of this among Figma and FigJam users outside of this forum? Not everyone ends up visiting here I suppose.
If anyone reading this is keen to fastrack visibility of this feature request, I have started a post here to share with your networks:

Not sure if it is a niche issue for just a handful of us or something that is a genuine blocker for other Figma users as well - but only way to find out is to plug the request in multiple places and see what traction happens~!
