Hey @figma you know what would be dope? Having the image field as a component property allowing us to just replace the image without having to go into the layers…even better if it would save the fit or fill setting

Thanks for the feedback, @Sebastian_Wieser1!

We’ll pass this onto our team for consideration.

please. this would be awesome

This needs to become reality.

One of of the biggest reasons we need this is that when I switch variants for a component instance, currently it reverts back to the main component’s image layer setting. This makes it really impossible to dynamically switch component states and preserve the image content like every other property (text, icons, etc.)

Not only would this improve our workflow for making new unique instances of a component where rich media is a main element, but it would enable vastly simpler prototyping models.

+1 - This is a very needed feature.

Please, please add this. I’m currently building out a template suite for all of my teams social creatives with very customizable but (almost) unbreakable design components.. This is the last ingredient I need to make them totally functional

This would be a huge timesaver for my team!

It's very strange that this feature isn't supported yet. It's been available in Sketch for quite some time and is very convenient. For example, it takes a lot of time to find the right layer in a component such as a phone mockup just for placing correct screenshots.
