Hey hey!
Sometimes me and my team works on branches. This is fine if you know where you are looking in specific team / project however that’s not the case when searching.
The file “card” doesn’t show if the file has branches in the search results.

I guess my ask would be to add same interface I can see within a project when I hover over a file to search results file as well.

Many love! <3

It would be nice if we could search for specific branches. Our team uses JIRA ticket numbers along with file/component specific naming to name our branches to keep them somewhat tidy. It takes time to scroll through all the branches or remember who worked on a specific branch and being able to search would reduce the time to find a branch. For context: Our company’s design system library currently has 30+ branches open.

Here’s another use case for branch search:
I usually open files via the new tab search bc it’s the quickest way with the ton of files we have in our team. Having to open the file first and then open the branch that the ongoing work is in is really tedious and a lot of file-loading overhead. It would be absolutely amazing to open the branch directly from the search!

I’ve been dying for searchable branches! 🙏 Plz plz plz!

It’ll be more convenient for us, and it’s critical for everyone outside the UX team. Since we’ve started using branches, devs & PMs have been having a hard time finding what they’re looking for.

We work exclusively in branches, so the search function doesn’t serve much of a purpose for me anymore either. If I need something from someone else’s file, I need to bug them for a link to their branch. Even if it was my own branch, if it’s been a while since I’ve worked on it, I can’t find it either 😅. We all have a lot on our plates, it’s difficult to memorize where I’ve placed everything. Sidebar shortcuts aren’t useful if I’ve got 2 dozen of them.

Like many others, we use Jira and there are ticket numbers associated with branches. Being able to search for Jira ticket numbers would make everything so much easier for everyone. 🙏

The shift in our process to using branches has been a bit painful for this reason, the lack of search has meant a downgrade in dev/PM’s Figma experience. I know it will bear fruit when we merge things and have a “source of truth,” but I’m concerned about the unnecessary tradeoff we’ve made by essentially hiding everything behind unsearchable branches. And I’m worried about how much harder it’ll be to find things in the future, after we’ve racked up a history of tons of (merged) branches and god forbid a designer leaves the team and I can’t ask them if they remember where they put it!
