When pasting text from design into a string variable, it seems that a color variable is being added unexpectedly. I don’t know what’s causing this.
Hi, The latest build of the Figma (124.7.4) was updated in my system last week and since after that, the app has started behaving too slowly as if a lot of load is on my system which somehow felt like it would crash in some time. I thought, this might be my computer so I kept checking on my Activity Monitor to see if something was going on in the background but there was nothing. Even though I tried it as the only app running and nothing was running in the background, the behaviour remained consistent. I realised this when I switched to the web version of Figma, and things got quite smooth compared to the app’s laggy behavior. The system that I am using is a 2019 Intel i9 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM, and this should not cause any problems. I am sure this is something with the most recent build. I hope I am not the only person experiencing this problem.
Possible bug: Currently, when I use the paste and replace option (either via keyboard shortcut of the menu options), instead of the thing I copied replacing the thing I selected, the text of the thing I copied replaces the thing I selected. I need it to work as before, where the entire thing I copied (component, section, frame, etc) replaced the thing I selected. There are a few older posts regarding the copy and paste+replace; however, I believe my experience is novel.
Imagine a Figma page with thousands of text layers inside many frames. It will take half a day to select all those texts individually and Cntrl+A works only for a single frame. Is it possible to select each and every text element in that page. Im asking this because, all the text got strikethoughed and we dont know how it happened.
Anyone else finding that Figma is getting choppier and less performant on Intel macs? I have a perfectly working machine that’s been running fine for a good amount of time. But in the last 6 months I’ve found that Figma has become more laggy and slower to update things on the canvas. Am I alone, anyone else finding this?

With the new underline styling feature it’s not possible to reset the color to be “Auto” again. It only allows picking from the variables & styles, but no auto option available. This seems to be a bug. I had to re-create a text style because this wasn’t possible. In addition (this is only tangentially related): it should be possible to leave the color on Auto / any pre-defined variable or style AND make it possible to change the opacity of the underline. So I can pick auto and then turn down the opacity to let’s say 50%. This is also needed for general fills and such!
Anyone else having this problem?: My team’s design system library uses extensive variables, but all of a sudden when I go to edit local variables it says I do not have any. All of our variables can still be viewed and used in other Figma files that use the library, I can still toggle modes and when I select components that use the colors in the variable libraries they show up as a library color, but with no label, just a blank rectangle. I also see that I have variables when I go to publish the design system library.
I’ve opened today my FigJam file and found most of the text completely glitched. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Hi Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am currently encountering an issue with hyperlinks in Figma instances and would appreciate your assistance in resolving it. Issue Summary I’ve created an Index component that includes hyperlinks to three other Figma files (Moodboard, Resell, and Other Project & Component Library). The links work perfectly within the master component file. However, when I use the component instance in another Figma file, the hyperlinks no longer function as expected. Everytime I add an instance from the asset community, it will not allow me to edit the size without removing it from my frame. Then, I cannot add it back into my frame to be used in my design. I am new to Figma and don’t see what the issue is. Could someone please help me troubleshoot this issue? I would like to add a screen recording, but this forum won’t let me since I am a new user.
I faced a problem in Variables in @figma How can I turn LTR to RTL like this example from English to Arabic . Anyone solved or faced this problem?
I have a component where I have built a workflow of 4 “views”, each a variant, where clicking in the right place does a “change to” to the next view. These all work fine. prob 1, you can’t have a button in a frame target a variant to open. So I worked around this by pulling an instance of the first view out, and that gets opened as an overlay. Still good. And the whole “change to” flow still works. Now for the problem. I updated the initial overlay call to position “bottom right”, which is ok, but now when the “change to” triggers, instead of changing in place, it shifts the overlay to centered. I’ve tried re creating the links, restarting, etc… no change. I tried manual position of the initial overlay, and it still jumps center when “change to”. This bug is a huge problem and limitation as I often need to create similar localized variant usage.
Issue: When I zoom to 100% in design mode I expect to see a frame of 1920 px wide fill the width of my screen. It however extends the width. I tested to create a new frame and it does the same, it almost feels like the file has some scaling issue. Context: Platform is windows, in the desktop app… Screen resolution is 1920 wide, windows UI scaling is at 100%. Figma interface scale is also 100%
[Rookie question] Is there an ideal layout grid for desktop and mobile? If so, what is it? Is my grid layout okay? on a 1980 width frame?
I am currently exploring ways to integrate user management capabilities into our internal tools and was wondering if Figma provides public APIs for managing user accounts within an organization. Specifically, I’m looking for APIs that allow for the following actions: Create (Provision) - Programmatically adding new users to our Figma organization. Read (List/Get Details) - Fetching a list of users and their details from our organization. Update - Updating user account details such as roles, permissions, or other attributes. Delete (Deprovision) - Removing users from our Figma organization. I am aware of the SCIM API functionality for user provisioning and deprovisioning, but I am interested in direct API calls that could be used without SCIM, preferably RESTful endpoints that we can interact with using standard HTTP methods. If such APIs are available, could you please provide guidance on how to access them, or point me to the relevant documentation? Any examples or additional resour
In the new update boolean operations moved from center top toolbar to a tiny, difficult to see spot in the corner of the properties panel. In the type of design I do I use these controls constantly and it’s been frustrating and disruptive. Constraints have also been moved and is less accessible. It would be great to allow the user to keep a custom top toolbar that is easily accessible, or at least maintain the original toolbar without having to revert to previous versions.
Hi! Is it possible to add a functionality where I first create an empty Layer and then I draw or paste objects on it? Right now on paste, the new Layer is created to an expected position among the existing Layers and I need to move it manually to the place I need it to be. Thank you very much.
Hi! I miss very much a functionality where I can use scrollTo a frame with a dynamic name, for example to frame named (‘images’+‘i’) where ‘i’ is a number. Thank you.

I’m creating a prototype for a certification I’m doing and whenever I try to test my prototype, a little icon shows up out of nowhere. I’ve looked EVERYWHERE in my project file - even going layer to layer - and to be honest I’m kinda going insane with this.
Whenever I set a frame either min or max width, ‘left and right’ constraint is disabled. Is this a bug? Or is there’s any reason?
I want to know whether the user is pressing for example “command” currently or not. Can I know this within the Figma file? Not sure how else I would make my plugin as seamless as the rest of Figma. Thanks in advance for any help!
Another frame with precisely the same structure and settings works. But this doesn’t! Why?
