Question

Is it possible to apply strikethrough to every text in a figma page

test19

Imagine a Figma page with thousands of text layers inside many frames. It will take half a day to select all those texts individually and Cntrl+A works only for a single frame. Is it possible to select each and every text element in that page. Im asking this because, all the text got strikethoughed and we dont know how it happened.

Hi @test19, Thank you for reaching out about this! I appreciate you sharing your challenge with us.

A possible method you might consider is using a plugin like Select Layers, which allows you to select all text layers on a page. Once selected, you can then click on “Multi-edit text” icon to edit the contents.

You can find more about Multi-edit text here: Create and edit text - Edit multiple layers at once Also, feel free to explore our community on your own.

While this method still requires some manual effort, it might streamline your process a bit.

I hope this suggestion helps! If anyone in our community has other methods or tips for achieving this, please feel free to share them here.

Thanks again for getting in touch!

Edit: I see Junko3’s response above has already included this, but I second it.

You can use this plugin to select all text layers (among other things)

The text has gotten "strikethrough"ed automatically and this has happened multiple times. Please guide me a little bit more deeply how to resolve this please.

Hello there, Thank you for contacting.
I have conducted a test and here is my approach:

  1. Select all text layers in a page by “Select Layers” > “Select Layers by Type” > “Select Text Layer”
  2. Apply Strikethrough on those texts by ⌘+⇧+X (Mac).

If you were unable to choose suitable layers with the Select Layers plugin, please reach out the plug in owner. You can find their contact details on the right side of the plugin page: [Support: plugin owner’s email], or you could leave a comment on the plugin page.

I hope this helps!

But has there been any update from Figma as to why this issue is happening in the first place or is there anything that is happening from my (as in from the user’s end) that is causing this issue?

Hi @Tanul, If you are referring to this behavior quoted below, unfortunately, I couldn’t replicate it. If you are using a plugin and encounter this issue, please contact the plugin owner. The plugin owner will then reach out to our support team for further assistance.

Thanks for your understanding.

I am facing the exact issue. All text layers on a screen got strikethrough-ed somehow. I have no clue how that happened. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. I am thinking maybe there is a shortcut in Figma for this and I accidentally triggered that shortcut. No idea. Still scratching my head.

The same things has happened to me! so infuriating. ALL my text in my hi-fi frames now have a strikethough. It didn’t have it yesterday. Wasn’t me. I can’t figure out how to turn off the strikethough ‘en masse’. All I can do right now is go one by one. ARGH.

I didnt use the layers plugin. Went to version history and restored the version just before it got strikethroughed.

Hi, it’s certainly odd to see all of the text in a file suddenly appear with a strikethrough, especially if you haven’t made any changes.

I’ve checked internally but haven’t come across any relevant reports yet. If you’d like to investigate the cause of this behavior, I recommend submitting a bug report to our support team at https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001744374
When you reach out, please make sure to include the following details:

  • Your Figma account email
  • The date and time when the issue occurred
  • The URLs of the affected file and add support-share@figma.com as an editor of the file (this won’t affect your billing)

Additionally, as mentioned in the previous post, here are some related resources:

Thanks once again for your help and understanding!

Just had the same thing happen to all the text within multiple instances and components within a specific parent frame on a page.

This is surely a Figma bug.

Okay, wondering if it might be due to this shortcut on Mac: CMD+SHIFT+X which applies the strikethrough text decoration. You find it under the menu in Figma > Text > Strikethrough

Easy to do when thinking you are using CMD+X to cut something.

I selected the parent frame and then did CMD+SHIFT+X again, and all the strikethrough formatting disappeared from the text elements within that frame!

So, not a bug, but a feature after all 🙂

See also now that Junko found similar solution. If you also find this post, that is the solution.
