As design systems grow organically, it might be necessary to reorder Variable Modes in the Local variables panel, similarly to how it is possible to reorder variables.
In the library modal i can’t find the components that are stil in use in my document. This is a former library that i do not need anymore. Therefore there are still components in it but I can’t find them. When i want to swap components, it is said that there are no components in it. And I want to have a clean doc, without a library that I do not use anymore.
Hello! I am a community advocate for FOF, Sofia for Bulgaria and we experience difficulties when we want to use Bulgarian Cyrillic in several fonts with the “Stylistic sets” feature, but Bulgarian Cyrillic just doesn’t work. When I try the same in Adobe Illustrator for example - there are no problems. The only solution we’re able to find is to change the font’s core defaults to this type of Cyrillic, otherwise, it is impossible to use the stylistic set in Figma. Best Regards, Daniel Dungyov
Hey ! Show/Hide UI shortcut doesn’t seem to work anymore in Mac. It has changed from Command + \ to Command + . and i can’t use it in Mac anymore. This shortcut is so useful during workshops presentation. I really need it back 😃 Have a nice day, Audrey
Hello everybody, hope somebody can help me with a node problem I’m having. I linked up all my screens, but when I go to upload it to Useberry I keep getting an error message that says the prototype doesn’t have a starting point. But as you can see from the screenshot of my project, there’s one right there. Is there something I’m missing or not doing right? If anybody has any advice I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.
Hello everyone! 👋 I’m currently designing a collapsible sidebar for a project, but I’ve run into an issue I can’t seem to solve despite watching tutorials and googling extensively. Here’s the setup and what I’m trying to achieve: Sidebar design: It contains menu items with an icon and a label. When collapsed, only the icons should be visible. When expanded, both the icon and label should appear. Interaction details: Hovering over the menu (while collapsed) should show the label next to the icon. Each menu item has two variants: Expanded (icon + label) Collapsed (icon only) Additionally, there are three states for each variant: Default Hover Selected This is the desired behavior: Vs the behavior I’m currently experiencing I’m trying to keep the file as simple as possible, I’m using only one component per menu item, later on they’re meant to have different icons and labels. Should I have a dedicated component set per menu item? Here’s a link to the file
I pressed the incorrect shortcut and now I don’t know how to reverse it. But my page looks like this I am unable to see any of the work I have done aside from the skeleton. What did I press? What is it used for? How can I change it back? Thank you.
This makes it easier to use components in designs for different screen sizes. And then you don’t have to calculate every time what 40% or 60% of the width is. This also makes it easier to design scalable applications that grow with the width of the screen.
Hello everyone, I have a question: is it possible for a user to be just a “viewer” of the design system but still reference it in their mockups as an editor? I would like a specific user to be able to use the design system in their work without running the risk of them modifying the design system.
Hi - I’m a freelance consultant and I want to program custom color palettes for each of my clients in FigJam for workshops. It seems that is only available in the Organization and Enterprise licenses. Is there any workaround? And is there any plan for this to be offered to the professional tier of licenses?
Hi, I am currently unable to download Figma on my laptop (Microsoft Surface Laptop) and I keep getting this error pop up. I have tried all the methods, updating windows, downloading the installer from Figma website, disabling firewall but to no avail. Please help

Hello! I’m using Web version of Figma and when i’m running prototype there are some lines (I attached a photo). I think it may be related to slicing method i used. Artifacts appear only on slised png. The problem also exists when i’m using the app for desctop(OS Windows), on another PCs and phones (i have alredy checked on differents Iphones). The sliced pieces of png have even number of pixels in height and width. Is there a way to apply keybinds in Figma to functions in the plugin interface? I would like to create my own prefabricated elements that are supplemented with additional information when they are created, preferably with keybinds.

I removed and changed a number of colour variables in my Library, but they won’t update in any of the files the library is linked in. I’ve restarted Figma, updated, tried everything I can, but I can’t seem to resolve this issue! How I updated the naming conventions (previously there were 10 values for each numbered 50, 100, 200, etc.): It’s showing me that it should be updated with no further changes in each of the linked files: Yet in the overview it’s still showing the 10 values for each colour… …and the new values aren’t showing up in the right panel. Please help!!
When I apply a string variable to the text that is not text property (of a component), it jumps to the current selection as expected, so that I can select the intended option right away after mistakenly selecting the wrong one, or simply, select one in the same folder as it is the whole point of putting things in folders. But if it’s a text property in a component, it won’t jump to the selected variable. (img2) Happens with every single text property. Why? Is it a bug, or is it a feature to drive me crazy?
Some functions that don’t appear in the menu cannot have shortcuts assigned to them. However, I came up with an alternative method. By using the keyboard shortcut Command+K, you can bring up the search box. Once the required function is entered, you can activate it. Then, on macOS, you can use a script to help automate this workflow and trigger it with a single click. Below is the script I wrote for quickly creating multiple components. tell application "System Events" -- Activate the Figma application tell application "Figma" to activate -- Simulate the Command + K keyboard shortcut keystroke "k" using {command down} delay 0.1 -- Wait for the command panel to appear -- Type "创建多个组件" (Create Multiple Components) set the clipboard to "Create Multiple Components" -- Use the clipboard to ensure proper Chinese input delay 0.1 -- Ensure clipboard content is set properly keystroke "v" using {command down} -- Paste the clipboard content
Is it possible to set a max text width for specific text styles in Figma (e.g., body text) to maintain legibility? I want to prevent team members from creating overly long lines of text, which can be hard to read. If there’s no direct way, does anyone have a workaround or best practice to achieve this
When pasting text from design into a string variable, it seems that a color variable is being added unexpectedly. I don’t know what’s causing this.
Hi, The latest build of the Figma (124.7.4) was updated in my system last week and since after that, the app has started behaving too slowly as if a lot of load is on my system which somehow felt like it would crash in some time. I thought, this might be my computer so I kept checking on my Activity Monitor to see if something was going on in the background but there was nothing. Even though I tried it as the only app running and nothing was running in the background, the behaviour remained consistent. I realised this when I switched to the web version of Figma, and things got quite smooth compared to the app’s laggy behavior. The system that I am using is a 2019 Intel i9 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM, and this should not cause any problems. I am sure this is something with the most recent build. I hope I am not the only person experiencing this problem.
Possible bug: Currently, when I use the paste and replace option (either via keyboard shortcut of the menu options), instead of the thing I copied replacing the thing I selected, the text of the thing I copied replaces the thing I selected. I need it to work as before, where the entire thing I copied (component, section, frame, etc) replaced the thing I selected. There are a few older posts regarding the copy and paste+replace; however, I believe my experience is novel.
There is lot of market out there which provides illustrations or assets in the form of EPS. (for example, freepik assets). Prototyping tools like sketch already supporting the EPS file and it’s easy to use them inside it. But Figma lacks the support of it and I think we should have that in the near future. Do you guys know any workaround to import the eps into figma ? I am preferring a free approach because illustrator and sketch are paid tools.
