I am a student and we have a free student plan from our school. I am trying to verify my student plan but it says that I have exceeded the verification limit or I have already activated it. Although the role on my profile is set to Education > Student but when I join on Edu Teams, it wants me to verify my status and I can’t verify it because it won’t let me. I have already contacted SheerID but they take way too long on responding.

We acknowledge that this may not be ideal, but as highlighted in the top post of this topic, Figma has extended a grace period for students in the process of reverifying their education status.

You will not lose access to your account or files at this time. This should give you more time to get in touch with SheerID.

I do acknowledge that this may still be distressing, but please know we are doing the best that we can to get everyone situated.

I have tried verifying 20+ times, I have contacted SheerID and they said the image of my student ID and my class schedule wasn’t “Clear” I have tried uploading images of it as clear as possible. 

I have run out of verification limit, The only prerequisite of being a student is College mail and college ID SheerID cant even verify that. education@figma.com was of no help either. Said that only sheerID can help. I reached out to sheerID and they informed me of the issue but won’t let me verify again. 

I need Figma for my UX class and I will fail if I'm unable to get access. 

 

 


I’ve deleted and remade my account already and it’s still not working, I was only able to get access for a week before I was told to verify again.

I think you guys just killed Figma Education. SheerID doesn’t fix anything, when I last contacted them, they told me they couldn’t verify or reset anything because all the requests were still open. The frustrating part is that I activated my student discounts/accounts on other websites through SheerID with my student email, and everything worked perfectly fine without any errors.


After contacted sheer id staff, I replied back and forth with them to reset limits. After that, the verification process has been changed - no longer requesting my gov id images but only require the school email. I mean, if they could have identified my status only with school e-mail, what on earth they multiple time requested my government issued id scans, which collects my address, photo, facial info, and birthday…? This was first time to be asked that only happened with Figma. Cursor, VSC Copilot, YT- I only needed to provide my school id and active school email. Duh. 

 

Anyway - best shot that I can advise is contacting sheer id staff to reset your limit along with your school email and point of contact from Figma. I finally made my verification completed...gees. 


Yesterday, I attempted to apply for the student plan on the website. However, upon submitting the verification form, I received an error message stating, “Verification Limit Exceeded.” I have not previously completed the verification process, so I’m unsure why this issue occurred.

I would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed or reset the verification attempt so I can complete my application successfully.

I'm a university design student at UC San Diego. I graduate in mid-June 2026. I thought I reverified my Figma education status 2 weeks ago. When I log into Figma now though, it says my education status has expired and all users have to reverify.

When attempting to reverify, it says the offer has already been redeemed, yet the expiration message persists. I am blocked from using Figma Make which I need urgently for my university classes.

Please help me with this ASAP! I do not have a ‘grace period’ applied and am blocked from education functionalities like Figma Make.

I did submit a support ticket to Figma and one to SheerID. But I need a more urgent fix.

I'm adding my voice to this thread as I'm facing the exact same frustrating issue, and my academic work is currently blocked.

My Situation:

  1. I am a verified student actively using the Education Plan features for my school projects. My profile role is correctly set to "Education > Student."

  2. However, when I try to access my Edu Teams or simply proceed with my work, I get the persistent error: “Verification Limit Exceeded” or “You’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.” (I have attached a screenshot of the message).

  3. The most critical problem is that this verification lock has caused my entire account to be completely blocked from editing, which is severely preventing me from making any progress on my current school assignments.

The Urgent Need for a Solution:

I understand that SheerID handles the verification, and I have already reached out to them. However, their response time for such an urgent issue is far too slow. Many students, like myself, depend on Figma to submit coursework on time.

Could a Figma support team member please step in and assist with the following to resolve this lockout?

Manually reset the verification limit on my account so I can re-attempt the verification process immediately.

Given that this is a widespread issue locking users out of their active files, is there any internal mechanism to temporarily restore my edit access while the SheerID ticket is being processed?

Thank you for your understanding and urgent help. This is truly impacting my studies.


Same issue,

My education team is completely locked due to a verification error, and we urgently need help.

The Problem:

  • Can't re-verify my Bangladesh National University status
  • Error: "Something went wrong! We are having trouble with the verification process"
  • SheerID support says this must be resolved by Figma

What I Need: Manual verification review OR temporary team access while this is resolved. I have all valid university documents ready to submit.

This is blocking critical academic projects with deadlines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I checked your case, and I can confirm that your support ticket (#1550120) is currently being reviewed by our team. They’ll follow up with you directly as soon as possible with an update. 

Since the verification process itself is handled by SheerID, their response times can sometimes take a few business days. I understand that’s far from ideal, and I truly appreciate your patience while both teams work on this.

At the moment, I’m unfortunately not able to manually reset the verification limit or restore edit access on our side. The verification process is fully managed by our partner SheerID.

That said, your case and feedback have been shared with the team so they’re aware of how significantly this is impacting students.

@Gayani_S I have gotten this reply from SheerID which doesn’t provide any help:

 

We were unable to process your verification request. While we can't offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please ensure all information submitted is accurate and meets the eligibility criteria for future attempts. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.

 

Figma support only says that I have to go through SheerID, so where do I go from here?
